Jorane
Jorane Pelletier (born October 12, 1975), known professionally as Jorane, is a French-Canadian singer/cellist, who performs pop and alternative music style on the cello, a typically classical instrument, while singing at the same time. She has released eight full-length studio albums to date. Career Jorane worked with Sarah McLachlan for her record ''Afterglow''. In 2004, the press also reported that Jorane would appear on a Halloween special of the television series ''ZeD'' to perform a "witchy acid cello". Prix Iris For Best Original Music
The Prix Iris for Best Original Music (french: Prix Iris de la meilleure musique originale) is an annual film award, presented by Québec Cinéma as part of its Prix Iris awards program, to honour the year's best music in films made within the Cinema of Quebec. Unlike some other film awards, which present separate categories for scores and songs, the Prix Iris only presents a single music category inclusive of both types of film music. Until 2016, it was known as the Jutra Award for Best Original Music in memory of influential Quebec film director Claude Jutra. Following the withdrawal of Jutra's name from the award, the 2016 award was presented under the name Québec Cinéma. ''Afterglow'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan. Released on 4 November 2003, on Nettwerk in Canada and 4 November 2003, on Arista Records in the United States, it was her first album of new material in six years, after the success of '' Surfacing'' and the Lilith Fair festival. Unlike past albums where she went to an isolated cottage to write the songs, she wrote the songs for ''Afterglow'' in her family home mainly before the birth of her child. She wrote the songs entirely on piano, which was also a departure from her previous albums which she wrote on guitar. Longtime collaborator Pierre Marchand produced the album. Aquarius Records is an independent record label based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. History Aquarius Records was founded in 1969. The first president was Terry Flood and the other founding owners were Donald Tarlton, Bob Lemm, Dan Lazare and Jack Lazare. The label was initially distributed by London Records of Canada. Among the first acts signed to the label was the Halifax band April Wine, who had also worked with Much Productions.
