Jonathan Alden "Jon" Merrill (born May 25, 1945) is an American fandom editor and collector who, with Tricia Trozzi, was the co-president of the International Annie Fan Club from 1983 to 1998, and the co-editor of the ''Annie People'' newsletter. A fandom is a subculture composed of fans characterized by a feeling of empathy and camaraderie with others who share a common interest. Fans typically are interested in even minor details of the objects of their fandom and spend a significant portion of their time and energy involved with their interest, often as a part of a social network with particular practices, differentiating fandom-affiliated people from those with only a casual interest. A fandom can grow around any area of human interest or activity. ''Annie'' is a Broadway theatre, Broadway musical theatre, musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip ''Little Orphan Annie'' and loosely based on the 1885 poem "Little Orphant Annie" written by James Whitcomb Riley. The musical includes music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a musical theater, book by Thomas Meehan (writer), Thomas Meehan. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, setting a record for the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre). A documentary film or documentary is a non-fictional film, motion-picture intended to "document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a Recorded history, historical record". Executive producers Motty Reif and Chris Kelly, produced and directed by Gil Cates Jr. and Julie Stevens (American actress and singer), Julie Stevens, who played Tessie in the 1979 and Pepper in the 1981 Broadway productions, about the lives of the women who had once played Little Orphan Annie or one of the other orphans in the musical Annie (musical), ''Annie''. Biography Stevens is the co-director, co-producer of the documentary film, ''Life After Tomorrow'', about the child performers in the musical ''Annie''.
