Jon Martin Larsen (born 1975) is a Norwegian journalist, media executive, government official, humanitarian and LGBT rights activist. He has worked as a journalist or editor with '' Verdens Gang'' and '' Dagsavisen'', as editor-in-chief and CEO of the newspaper '' Akershus Amtstidende'' and as a communications director with the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud, the Norwegian Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross. He lectures in journalism at Kristiania University College, where he researches the use of communication to improve the lives of the LGBT+ community. Rights affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people vary greatly by country or jurisdiction—encompassing everything from the legal recognition of same-sex marriage to the death penalty for homosexuality. Notably, , 33 countries recognized same-sex marriage. By contrast, not counting non-state actors and extrajudicial killings, only two countries are believed to impose the death penalty on consensual same-sex sexual acts: Iran and Afghanistan. ''Dagsavisen'' is a daily newspaper published in Oslo, Norway. The former party organ of the Norwegian Labour Party, the ties loosened over time from 1975 to 1999. It has borne several names, and was called ''Arbeiderbladet'' from 1923 to 1997. Eirik Hoff Lysholm is editor-in-chief. The newspaper depends on economic support from the Norwegian Government. History ''Dagsavisen'' was established by Christian Holtermann Knudsen in 1884 under the name ''Vort Arbeide'' ('Our Work' in archaic Riksmål), and was affiliated with the trade union center ''Fagforeningernes Centralkomité''. The Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud ( no, Likestillings- og diskrimineringsombudet) is a Norwegian ombudsman for gender equality and anti-discrimination, and is appointed for a term of six years by the King-in-Council, in effect by the Government of Norway. The ombudsman heads the similarly named government agency. The office was established by the Norwegian government in 2006 as the successor of the Gender Equality Ombud (established 1978), the Centre for Gender Equality (established 1997) and the Centre Against Ethnic Discrimination (established 1998). The Centre for Gender Equality was itself a continuation of the Council for Gender Equality, established as a public body in 1972 on the proposal of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights (NKF). The Norwegian Red Cross (''Norges Røde Kors'') was founded on 22 September 1865 by prime minister Frederik Stang.
