Jon Luvelli
Jon Luvelli (born February 20, 1979) is an Italian–American street photographer. He has made black and white images of people in Columbia, Missouri and in rural mid-western American townscapes. Career Luvelli was first drawn to photography as a child. His photographs are subjective interpretations. He has made black and white images depicting idiosyncrasies of people in Columbia, Missouri and in rural mid-western American townscapes. His work conveys social messages, addressing economic and civil issues, in the form of macabre candid photography. His subject matter is the underside of humanity. In 2016, three of Luvelli's photographs were selected to be part of the permanent collection at the Boone County Historical Society's Walters-Boone County Historical Museum in Columbia, Missouri, its first street photographs. True/False Film Festival
True/False Film Fest is an annual documentary film festival that takes place in Columbia, Missouri. The Fest occurs on the first weekend in March (sometimes beginning in late February), with films being shown from Thursday evening to Sunday night. Films are screened at multiple locations around downtown Columbia, including Ragtag Cinema, Jesse Hall, Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts, The Picturehouse, The Blue Note, The Globe, Rhynsburger Theater and the Forrest Theater in the Tiger Hotel. It offers one award each year, the True Vision Award. True/False Film Fest and Ragtag Cinema are programs of the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the Ragtag Film Society. Street photography (also sometimes called candid photography) is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places. Candid Photography
A candid photograph is a photograph captured without creating a posed appearance. The candid nature of a photograph is unrelated to the subject's knowledge about or consent to the fact that photographs are being taken, and are unrelated to the subject's permission for further usage and distribution. The crucial factor is the actual absence of posing. Boone County Historical Society was established in 1924. The ''Columbia Daily Tribune'', commonly referred to as the ''Columbia Tribune'' or the ''Tribune'', is one of two daily newspapers in Columbia, Missouri, the other being the '' Columbia Missourian''. The State Historical Society of Missouri, a private membership and state funded organization, is a comprehensive research facility located in Columbia, Missouri, specializing in the preservation and study of Missouri's cultural heritage.
