Jolly Mon
Jolly Mon, also stylized as Jollymon, is an American rock band currently based in Portland, Oregon, but has been described as a mixture of reggae, 70s atmospheric Pink Floyd, and hard rock. History The founding member Carey Rich moved from the East coast in 1991 to Eugene, Oregon. After originally deciding upon Seattle, Washington, Rich switched to Eugene because it wasn't as intimidating at first sight. By August, Rich answered a bulletin board ad for a band looking for a bass player. The ad listed influences of Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, Black Sabbath and others. Rich mentioned the group "clicked" and began practicing a lot and by October had played their first show. By August 1992, because they had previously opened for bands like the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Hitting Birth, and Sweaty Nipples the band was rewarded with the opportunity to headline the largest venue in town the WOW Hall. Cherry Poppin' Daddies
The Cherry Poppin' Daddies are an American swing and ska band established in Eugene, Oregon, in 1989. Formed by singer-songwriter Steve Perry and bassist Dan Schmid, the band has experienced numerous personnel changes over the course of its 30-year history, with only Perry, Schmid and trumpeter Dana Heitman currently remaining from the original founding lineup. The Daddies' music is primarily a mix of swing and ska, contrastingly encompassing both traditional jazz-influenced variations of the genres as well as contemporary rock and punk hybrids, characterized by a prominent horn section and Perry's acerbic and innuendo-laced lyricism often concerning dark or political subject matter. Turntablism
Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating new music, sound effects, mixes and other creative sounds and beats, typically by using two or more turntables and a cross fader-equipped DJ mixer. The mixer is plugged into a PA system (for live events) and/or broadcasting equipment (if the DJ is performing on radio, TV or Internet radio) so that a wider audience can hear the turntablist's music. Turntablists atypically manipulate records on a turntable by moving the record with their hand to cue the stylus to exact points on a record, and by touching or moving the platter or record to stop, slow down, speed up or, spin the record backwards, or moving the turntable platter back and forth (the popular rhythmic "scratching" effect which is a key part of hip hop music), all while using a DJ mixer's crossfader control and the mixer's gain and equalization controls to adjust the sound and level of each turntable. Everclear is an American rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1991. The band was formed by Art Alexakis, the band's lead songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist; and for most of the band's height of popularity, consisted of Craig Montoya on bass guitar and Greg Eklund on drums. Candlebox
Candlebox is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Since its formation in 1990, the group has released seven studio albums, several charting singles, a compilation, and a CD+DVD. Candlebox found immediate success with the release of its self-titled debut album in July 1993. ''Candlebox'' featured four singles: "Change", "You", " Far Behind" and "Cover Me". "Far Behind" reached the top 20, and the album was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. Maverick was an American entertainment company founded in 1992 by Madonna, Frederick DeMann, and Veronica "Ronnie" Dashev, and formerly owned and operated by Warner Music Group.
