John William Greene
John William Greene (3 September 1876, in Cardiff, Wales – 7 October 1959, in Brisbane, Australia) was the Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1931 to 1934. He was the last Mayor of Wynnum before the 1925 amalgamation, and was the only one who was popularly elected. His brother Sam, was the first Mayor of Wynnum in 1913. Life Green was born in Cardiff. His Methodist parents were Ellen Webber (born Greenham) and her husband John Ily Green who had lived in Bridport in Dorset. He was one of their eleven children. His father designed and built Moreton Bay College where five of his sisters taught. Wynnum Town Council Prior to the formation of Brisbane City Council in 1925, the Brisbane area was split amongst many Cities, Towns and Shires, including the Town of Wynnum. Lord Mayor Of Brisbane
The Lord Mayor of Brisbane is the chief executive of the City of Brisbane, the capital of the Australian state of Queensland, and the head of the Brisbane City Council. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner of the Liberal National Party was sworn in on 8 April 2019, following the resignation of Graham Quirk. The Lord Mayor serves a four-year term running concurrently with that of the City Council, and is elected by optional preferential voting. Arthur Edward Moore
Arthur Edward Moore (9 February 1876 – 7 January 1963) was an Australian politician. He was the Country and Progressive National Party Premier of Queensland, from 1929 to 1932. He was the only Queensland Premier not to come from the ranks of the Labor Party between 1915 and 1957. Although successful in achieving the unity of the conservative forces in Queensland for an extended period, Moore's abilities were tested by the onset of the Great Depression and like many other governments in Australia and elsewhere his was unable to endure the formidable challenges it posed. Early career Moore was born in Napier, New Zealand in 1876. His family moved to Australia in 1887 when his father became a bank manager in Melbourne. The Town of Wynnum is a former local government area of Queensland, Australia, located in eastern Brisbane adjacent to Moreton Bay around the present day suburb of Wynnum. History of Wynnum The Bulimba Division was one of the original divisions created on 11 November 1879 under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''. On 4 January 1888, the No. 2 subdivision of the Bulimba Division was separated to create the new Kianawah Division. On 17 March 1892, there was an alteration of boundaries. The Pritchard's Road land and gravel reserve (100 acres) were transferred from Kianawah Division to Balmoral Division. Bridport
Bridport is a market town in Dorset, England, inland from the English Channel near the confluence of the River Brit and its tributary the Asker.
