John Watson (boxer)
John Watson (born 9 June 1983) is a British lightweight boxer, based in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. He has fought for the British lightweight title on two occasions, losing to Gavin Rees and Anthony Crolla. Boxing career Amateur career On 28 April 2002 Watson was crowned Junior ABA champion after opponent Jimmy Fletcher pulled out of the final with an injury. The pinnacle of Watson's amateur career was winning the 2004 senior Amateur Boxing Association championships at light welterweight Watson was involved with the 2004 Olympics being Amir Khan's chief training and sparring partner. The same year saw Watson pick up bronze boxing for England in a multinations tournament, held in Lithuania. Professional career Watson turned professional on 10 March 2007, scoring a points victory against Jason Nesbitt. Hayemaker Promotions is a promotional company operated by former WBA heavyweight and undisputed cruiserweight champion David Haye. The company held their first boxing promotional event in Sheffield on 20 September 2008. Starting Up On establishing the company, David Haye drew comparisons with Golden Boy Promotions when he said; "Golden Boy have taken over from Don King and Bob Arum and they've done it by empowering the fighters, putting control back in their hands and giving them the lion's share". Giving an insight into how the new promotional outfits would actually help fighters he added: "Promoting other fighters is not a money-making scheme for me, I make enough from my own fights, I don't need to take any money from six- to eight-rounders. Youssef Al Hamidi (born December 16, 1977) is a Syrian boxer who was a decorated amateur in the Syrian army and is now a professional boxer in the UK. Martin Gethin (born 16 November 1983) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2004 to 2017. He held the British lightweight title from 2013 to 2014. Early professional career Gethin made his debut in November 2004 beating journeyman Kristian Laight stopping him in the 4th round. In his 10th fight he fought for the vacant Midlands Area lightweight title beating Craig Johnson on points over 10 rounds. An exciting fighter he received a great opportunity just two fights later to fight in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. He beat Fabian Luque, who had a record of 21-5, and stopped him in the 4th round in what was his best win to date. History The British Boxing Board of Control was formed in 1929 from the old National Sporting Club and is headquartered in Cardiff. Until 1948, it had a colour bar in effect by means of its Rule 24, which stated that title contestants "must have two white parents". The British Boxing Board of Control initially refused to grant Jane Couch a professional licence on the sole ground that she was a woman, and argued that PMS made women too unstable to box. He challenged once for the WBA heavyweight title in 2006, and fought many top heavyweight champions and contenders during his career. David Haye
David Deron Haye (born 13 October 1980) is a British former professional boxer who competed between 2002 and 2018. He held multiple world championships in two weight classes, and was the first British boxer to reach the final of the World Amateur Boxing Championships, where he won a silver medal in 2001. As a professional, Haye became a unified cruiserweight world champion in 2008, winning three of the four major world titles, as well as the '' Ring'' magazine and lineal titles.
