John Sainty (footballer)
John Albert Sainty (born 24 March 1946 in Poplar, London) was a professional footballer in the 1960s and 1970s who went on to manage Chester City. Playing career As a player, Sainty (a forward) progressed through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and represented England Schoolboys, but he left White Hart Lane in 1967 after failing to make a Football League appearance. Over the next nine years Sainty played for Reading, AFC Bournemouth, Mansfield Town and Aldershot. He ended his career with 221 Football League appearances and 39 goals to his name. Coaching and Management Sainty then began a coaching career under John Bond. The duo worked together at Norwich City and Manchester City before Sainty went alone by taking the Chester manager's job (initially on a caretaker basis) in November 1982 after Cliff Sear stepped down. Poplar is a district in East London, England, the administrative centre of the borough of Tower Hamlets. Five miles (8 km) east of Charing Cross, it is part of the East End. Phil Harrington
Philip Harrington (born 23 November 1963) is a Welsh football coach and former player who played as a goalkeeper. He is the goalkeeping coach at Cork City in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Peter Bulmer (footballer)
Peter Bulmer (born 31 August 1965) is an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League for Chester City and Preston North End. He played at both full back and winger. Playing career Bulmer was the product of the youth setup with Chester City. He joined the club aged 15''Player Memories'', Chester City v. Brentford matchday programme; 27 December 1994; p.15 and made his first-team debut as a substitute against York City on 18 December 1982. He went on to make nine league starts during the season under John Sainty, wearing the number 11 shirt. The 1983–84 season produced one more start, but in 1984–85 he was a regular in the side. This season saw him divide playing at left back and on the left wing, scoring once in his 38 league appearances.
