John S. Tveit
John S. Tveit (18 December 1931 – 6 September 2022) was a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party (Norway), Christian Democratic Party. Life and career John S. Tveit was born in Tysvær on 18 December 1931, as a son of carpenter and smallholding, smallholder Guttorm Oliver Tveit (1895–1977) and housewife Serine Thuestad (1908–2004). He took secondary education, and worked as an office clerk in the regional center, Haugesund, from 1949 to 1954. He then moved back to Tysvær, operating his own company ''Tysvær Handel'' from 1955 to 1973. From 1974 to 1979 he worked with administration and secretary tasks for the municipality. By that time he was involved in politics. He was a member of Tysvær municipal council (Norway), municipal council from 1959 to 1964, and then served as mayor from 1967 to 1971. The Christian Democratic Party ( nb, Kristelig Folkeparti, nn, Kristeleg Folkeparti, se, Risttalaš Álbmotbellodat, , KrF) is a Christian-democratic political party in Norway founded in 1933. The party is an observer member of the European People's Party (EPP). It currently holds three seats in the Parliament, having won 3.8% of the vote in the 2021 parliamentary election. The current leader of the party is Olaug Bollestad. The Christian Democrats' leader from 1983 to 1995, Kjell Magne Bondevik, was one of the most prominent political figures in modern Norway, serving as Prime Minister from 1997 to 2000 and 2001 to 2005. Under the old leadership of Bondevik and Valgerd Svarstad Haugland, the party was to some extent radicalized and moved towards the left. Due largely to their poor showing in the 2009 elections, the party has seen a conflict between its conservative and liberal wings.
