John Roxburgh (footballer)
John Roxburgh (10 November 1901 – 29 March 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Aston Villa, Leicester City, Sheffield United and Stoke. Career Roxburgh began his career with Edinburgh Emmett before joining English non-league side Rugby Town. He impressed enough to earn a move to Leicester City where he was a regular for two seasons. He joined Aston Villa in 1922 and then moved on to Stoke. At the Victoria Ground Roxburgh played 14 matches scoring once against Stockport County in a 1–0 in February 1924. At the end of the 1923–24 season he moved on again this time to Sheffield United and then Sheffield Sheffield is a city status in the United Kingdom, city in South Yorkshire, England, whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. Granton, Edinburgh
Granton is a district in the north of Edinburgh, Scotland. Granton forms part of Edinburgh's waterfront along the Firth of Forth and is, historically, an industrial area having a large harbour. Granton is part of Edinburgh's large scale waterfront regeneration programme. Name Granton first appears on maps in the seventeenth century relating to the now-demolished Granton Castle. The name also appears in Granton Burn, which now runs through Caroline Park down to what was Granton Beach. The name is presumed to come from Grant's Town or Grant's Dun (hill). Cardiff City, however, as the strongest club in Wales in the era, is invited directly into the Second Division, and Grimsby Town takes its place in the new Third Division, thereby being the first club relegated to the League's third tier. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season.
