John Rhodes (born 4 September 1962) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler who played for Devon. He was born in Lancaster. Rhodes made his debut for Devon in the Minor Counties Championship of 1990, and played in the competition until 2001. Rhodes made his first List A appearance for the team in 1995, in a game against Sussex Sussex (), from the Old English (), is a historic county in South East England that was formerly an independent medieval Anglo-Saxon kingdom. John Rhodes (mathematician)
John Lewis Rhodes is a mathematician known for work in the theory of semigroups, finite state automata, and algebraic approaches to differential equations. Education and career Rhodes was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 16, 1937, but grew up in Wooster, Ohio, where he founded the Wooster Rocket Society as a teenager. In the fall of 1955, Rhodes entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology intending to major in physics, but he soon switched to mathematics, earning his B.S. in 1960 and his Ph.D. in 1962. His Ph.D. thesis, co-written with a graduate student from Harvard, Kenneth Krohn, became known as the Prime Decomposition Theorem, or more simply the Krohn–Rhodes Theorem. After a year on an NSF fellowship in Paris, France, he became a member of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley, where he spent his entire teaching career. Early life Rhodes was born on 17 May 1891 in England in Packmoor, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, the son of an ex-soldier and miner, Ernie Rhodes. Around 1910, however, he joined the Grenadier Guards of the British Army and served for three years, after which he returned to the colliery. John Milson Rhodes
Dr John Milson Rhodes (1847- 25 September 1909) was a general practitioner in the suburb of Didsbury, Manchester, UK. He was noted as a pioneer of social reform. He was born at Broughton, Salford in 1847 and studied medicine in Glasgow and at Owen's College, Manchester. He was a member of the Chorlton Board of Guardians from 1882 and involved with the workhouse which later became Withington Hospital. He helped to set up the Styal Cottage Homes. He established the Northern Workhouse Nursing Association and the Chorlton workhouse became a pioneer of trained nursing, held out by Florence Nightingale as an example. He established the Langho Colony for Epileptics in 1904 and was involved with the David Lewis Epileptics Colony. John Rhodes (17th Century)
John Rhodes ( fl. 1624 – 1665) was a theatrical figure of the early and middle seventeenth century. He rose to a brief prominence in 1660 when the London theatres re-opened at the start of the English Restoration era. Beginning Rhodes was connected with the King's Men during the final phase of the development of English Renaissance drama. On 6 December 1624, Sir Henry Herbert, the Master of the Revels, listed Rhodes among the "necessary attendants," the hired men of the company, who could not be arrested or "pressed for soldiers" without the consent of the Master of the Revels or the Lord Chamberlain. Rhodes served as the wardrobe-keeper at the Blackfriars Theatre. Once the theatres were closed at the start of the English Civil War in 1642, Rhodes, like fellow King's Men Alexander Gough and Andrew Pennycuicke, became a stationer, or bookseller.
