John Orr (born 1995), is a Scottish bowls player who won the World Under-25 title at the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship and is a Scottish Junior international. Bowls
Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). World Indoor Bowls Championships
The World Indoor Bowls Championship is an international bowls competition held annual at Potters holiday park in Hopton on Sea. The last week of the competition is televised live on BBC where the open singles and open pairs', women's singles and mixed pairs' finals are shown. History The competition was first held in 1979 in Coatbridge, Scotland as a men's singles only event. The first event was sponsored by Embassy Cigarettes. In 1986, the men's pairs competition was added to the championship. In 1988, a rule change allowed women to compete for the first time and the women's singles competition was created. This rule change also changed expanded the men's singles and pairs competition and both become open tournaments. In 1989, the championships moved to the Guild Hall in Preston, England And Churchill Insurance took over the sponsorship. 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship
The 2019 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 10–27 January 2019. The event is organised by the World Bowls Tour. Stewart Anderson won his second open singles title after defeating surprise qualifier Simon Skelton in the final. Julie Forrest of Scotland defeated Alison Merrien of Guernsey to win the women's singles. Alex Marshall and Paul Foster won the open pairs title for the fourth time as a pair and the sixth and fifth time respectively. Robert Paxton and Ellen Falkner won the mixed pairs event. St Leonards, East Kilbride
St Leonards is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. St Leonards is a residential area on the east side of the town. The majority of the area's streets are named after Glens, Islands, Rivers and Lochs from Scotland, for instance: Loch Shin, Loch Assynt, Glen Carron, Glen Tanner, Inch Murrin, Benbecula and Skye. About 39 streets are named after Glens of Scotland, 20 after Scottish Islands, 12 after Lochs and 7 after Scottish Rivers. St Leonards is well known for its red brick terraced houses in the Calderglen area, which can be seen from St Leonards Road approaching High Common Road. Schools Calderglen High School, which opened its new building on 18 February 2008, was formed from the merger of the existing Claremont and Hunter High Schools. The School was opened by Adam Ingram.
