John Mitchell (administrator)
John Robert Mitchell is a former president of the Melbourne Football Club and the Melbourne Cricket Club. Melbourne Football Club Mitchell became president of the Melbourne Football Club at the end of 1974, replacing the retiring Donald Duffy. He served for four years, during which time Melbourne's best result was to finish sixth. Mitchell retired at the end of the 1978 season, after the Demons finished on the bottom of the ladder, citing business and family reasons.Phillips, Steven. Melbourne Cricket Club
The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is a sports club based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 1838 and is one of the oldest sports clubs in Australia. The MCC is responsible for management and development of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a power given to it by the government-appointed MCG Trust and an Act of Parliament. This also guarantees the club's occupation of about 20 per cent of the stadium for its members reserve. In 1859, members drafted the first set of rules for Australian rules football. Donald Grant Duffy (1 January 1915 – 16 January 1995) was an Australian medical doctor and surgeon. He served in the Australian Army in World War II and was a president of the Melbourne Football Club. Wayne Vivian Reid OBE (12 January 1938 – 30 June 2021) was a tennis player and sports administrator who was president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia (LTAA), the Melbourne Football Club, the Asian Tennis Circuit, the Confederation of Australian Sport, the International Assembly of National Confederations of Sports and was a founding director of the Australian Institute of Sport. Don Cordner
Donald Pruen Cordner (21 January 1922 – 13 May 2009), M.B.B.S. was an Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne Football Club, Melbourne in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1940s. His brothers Denis Cordner, Denis, John Cordner (sportsman), John and Ted Cordner, Ted also played for the club. Playing career Cordner played for Melbourne University Football Club, Melbourne University prior to joining the VFL, studying medicine when not on the football field. A Ruckman (Australian rules football position), ruckman who was also used in defence, Cordner made his debut for Melbourne in the 1941 finals series, playing in their winning grand final in just his second appearance for the club.
