John Metras (basketball)
John George Metras (August 29, 1940 – June 30, 2020) was a Canadian football player who played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He won the Grey Cup with them in 1965. He previously played football at the University of Western Ontario, where his father Johnny Metras coached. John G. Metras graduated from Western Ontario in 1964 with a LL.B. degree and was called to the bar in 1966. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Tiger-Cats play their home games at Tim Hortons Field. In 1950, the Tigers merged with cross-town upstart Hamilton Wildcats and adopted the name "Tiger-Cats". Since the 1950 merger, the team has won the Grey Cup championship eight times, most recently in 1999. The Grey Cup (french: Coupe Grey) is both the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the trophy awarded to the victorious team playing in the namesake championship of professional Canadian football.
