Govan
Govan ( ; Cumbric?: ''Gwovan'?''; Scots: ''Gouan''; Scottish Gaelic: ''Baile a' Ghobhainn'') is a district, parish, and former burgh now part of south-west City of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated west of Glasgow city centre, on the south bank of the River Clyde, opposite the mouth of the River Kelvin and the district of Partick. Historically it was part of the County of Lanark. In the early medieval period, the site of the present Govan Old churchyard was established as a Christian centre for the Brittonic Kingdom of Alt Clut (Dumbarton Rock) and its successor realm, the Kingdom of Strathclyde. This latter kingdom, established in the aftermath of the Viking siege and capture of Alt Clut by Vikings from Dublin in AD 870, created the sandstone sculptures known today as the Govan Stones. Jock Simpson
John Robert Simpson (25 December 1886 – 4 January 1959) was a footballer who played as an outside right in the 1900s and 1910s. Career Club Simpson's footballing career began with Laurieston Villa, and after a trial with Rangers, he signed for Falkirk in 1905. The club finished runners-up in the Scottish Football League twice during his six-year spell ( 1907–08 and 1909–10), and he scored over 100 league goals, sometimes playing at centre forward, including 32 from 33 appearances in 1907–08, the highest total in the country. In January 1911, Simpson moved to Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £1800, a record fee received by a Scottish club. Robert McTavish (26 October 1888 – 1972) was a Scottish professional footballer who played in the Scottish League for Third Lanark, Falkirk and Raith Rovers as an inside left. He also played in England for Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur. Personal life McTavish's brother Jock was also a footballer and a forward; they were teammates at Falkirk and Tottenham Hotspur. His son John played as a defender, principally for Manchester City. Boundary Park
Boundary Park is a football stadium in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Its name originates from the fact that it lies at the northwestern extremity of Oldham, with Royton and Chadderton lying immediately north and west respectively. Boundary Park was originally known as the Athletic Ground when it was opened in 1896 for Oldham's first professional football club, Oldham County F.C.. When County folded in 1899, Pine Villa F.C. took over the ground and changed their name to Oldham Athletic. Oldham Athletic A.F.C. have played their home games here since the stadium was opened.
