John Manenti
John Manenti (born 1972) is an Australian rugby union coach. He is currently head coach of the Australian sevens team. Career As a rugby player, Manenti was a prop for Sydney clubs Western Suburbs and Sydney University in the 1990s. Manenti and Sydney University's former head coach Chris Malone are brothers-in-law. He coached the Wallaroos at the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup in England, where team won the bronze medal defeating 22–8 in the third place match. He was head coach at Eastwood for their three Shute Shield victories in 2011, 2014 and 2015, and also won the Australian Club Championship with Eastwood in 2015. In 2017, Manenti coached the Greater Sydney Rams in the National Rugby Championship, following the takeover of the franchise by the Eastwood Rugby Club. West Harbour RFC
The West Harbour Rugby Football Club is a team in the Shute Shield, the premier club rugby union football competition in New South Wales. The club is based in Concord, New South Wales, Concord in the Inner West of Sydney, and plays home matches at Concord Oval. Concord holds a place in rugby history as a venue for the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987. West Harbour's major sponsor is Burwood RSL and post match functions are held at Club Burwood. Australian Club Championship Rugby Union
The Australian Club Championship is a rugby union challenge match between the Brisbane and Sydney club premiers. The fixture was played on a regular basis from 1982 to 1991 (inclusive) and again since 2007, and also on an ad hoc basis in various other years. The regular scheduling was initially abandoned in 1993 when the NSWRU insisted on playing each match at Concord Oval in Sydney, rather than on a rotating basis. The championship was revived when it was agreed that the winners of the 2006 premierships would play the challenge match as a curtain raiser to the following year's Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs match in the Super 14 competition. Sydney Sixers
The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team, competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder, the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground in the south-eastern area of the inner city while the Thunder play out of Sydney Showground Stadium further west. Benjamin Andrew Davey Manenti (born 23 March 1997) is an Australian cricketer. He is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm off spin. He has played for Tasmania, South Australia, the Sydney Sixers, and the Adelaide Strikers. He has also represented the Italy national cricket team, qualifying as a citizen by descent. Domestic and franchise career Manenti made his Twenty20 debut for the Sydney Sixers in the 2018–19 Big Bash League season on 29 December 2018. The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport's international governing body. The World Rugby Men's Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Tim Walsh (born 10 April 1979) is an Australian rugby union coach and a former professional player. He is currently head coach of the Australian women's sevens team and was previously head coach of the Australian men's sevens team. Walsh played as a fly-half for the Queensland Reds in Super Rugby, and for several professional teams in England and Italy. He is a former captain of the Australian men's sevens team. Early life Walsh was educated at the Anglican Church Grammar School in Brisbane. He was selected for the Australian Schoolboys team in 1996, and went on to play for Australia Under-19s in 1998. The National Rugby Championship, known as NRC, was an Australian rugby union competition. It was contested by eight teams, seven from Australia and one from Fiji. The tournament ran from 2014 until 2019 before being disbanded in 2020 following the change of the Australian rugby TV broadcasting deal from Fox Sports, who had funded the competition, to Stan Sport. The Shute Shield is a semi-professional rugby union competition in Sydney, Australia. It is the premier club competition in New South Wales. The Shute Shield is awarded to the winning team from the Sydney premiership grand final held at the end of the club rugby season. History Club-based rugby football began some time before 1865. The Sydney University Football Club, founded in 1863, is the oldest club now playing rugby union in Australia, although this date is disputed by historian Tom Hickie who argues that it was 1865.
