John Freeman (Australian Politician)
John Stanley Freeman (11 August 1894 – 4 March 1970) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1945 until 1959 and a member of the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), Labor Party (ALP) . Freeman was born in Newtown, New South Wales. He was the son of a bootmaker, and was educated at Sydney Technical College as a pathology laboratory technician. He served in the Australian Army Medical Corps with the First Australian Imperial Force between 1917 and 1919. On repatriation he worked at the University of Sydney Veterinary Research Unit and was active in ex-servicemen's associations. Freeman was an unsuccessful candidate for the seat of Electoral district of Nepean (New South Wales), Nepean at the 1930 New South Wales state election, 1930 state election. John Freeman (born 18 January 1960) is a British writer/editor/designer known for his work with Marvel UK, and on ''Doctor Who Magazine'' and '' The Really Heavy Greatcoat''. Biography Freeman began his media career editing the Lancaster University student newspaper ''SCAN'' in 1981. Freeman's first professionally published comics work was ''The Science Service'', drawn by Rian Hughes, which Knockabout reprinted in 2007 as part of a larger collection of work by Hughes titled ''Yesterday's Tomorrows''. Education Freeman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Visual Arts Department at the University of California, San Diego, in 1986. John Patrick George Freeman (born 25 March 1951) is a retired British diplomat who until July 2019 was Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. John Adair Freeman (24 November 1933 – 15 March 2011) was a trade unionist from Northern Ireland. Born on the lower Oldpark road in north Belfast, Freeman was raised a Presbyterian. His father Samuel fought in the 2nd World war with the Scottish Cameronian rifles and was shot and captured in Belgium. He spent nearly five years in Poland as a prisoner of war. Samuel was a life long christian and member of all the loyal orders. Freeman had an older sister Stella and a younger brother Edward. They were educated at the Model Primary School on Cliftonville Road, leaving at the age of fourteen. During the war years his mother Mary worked in the local mill making munitions. He undertook a variety of jobs before emigrating to Australia in 1955, to work as a labourer. He returned to Belfast in 1962, and found himself unable to work at Short and Harland because he was not a member of the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union (ATGWU).
