John Francis Buckland
John Francis Buckland (1825–1910) was an auctioneer and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. Private life John Francis Buckland was born in Runnymede, Wraysbury, England in 1832 in a farmhouse that was a former hunting lodge of King John. He immigrated to Queensland in 1862 from England. His wife was Ellen Gertrude Ashton, daughter of Joseph Ashton and Mary Hewison. Buckland died on 21 September 1910 and was buried on 22 September 1910 in Nundah Cemetery.Queensland Registrar-General of Births, Deaths & Marriages. Electoral District Of Bulimba
Bulimba is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The electorate covers the inner eastern suburbs of Brisbane. It is bounded on the north and the west by the Brisbane River and, as at the 2009 election, covers the suburbs of Bulimba, Balmoral, Cannon Hill, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Murarrie and Seven Hills. The boundaries have changed relatively little since 1923; prior to that, the boundaries extended as far east as Wynnum and as far south-east as Mount Gravatt and Cleveland. The Shire of Toombul was a local government area of Queensland, Australia, located in northern Brisbane from 1883 to 1925. History The Nundah Division was one of the original divisions created on 11 November 1879 under the ''Divisional Boards Act of 1879''. The division was a large one, ranging from the Pine River in the north to the Brisbane River in the south and from Moreton Bay in the east to Chinaman's Creek (now South Pine River) in the west. The residents in the southern part of the division (the Toombul area) felt their needs were quite distinct from those further north and immediately began to agitate for the division to be split. On 1 November 1883, the Toombul Division was separated from the Nundah Division (which was later renamed the Kedron Division). Simon Fraser (Queensland Politician)
Simon Fraser (1824 – 8 January 1889) was an auctioneer and a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early years Fraser was born in Inverness, Scotland, to parents Alexander Fraser and his wife Janet. Educated at Inverness, he ran an ironmongery business in Liverpool before leaving for Queensland in 1862. With John Buckland, he founded the partnership of Fraser & Buckland, auctioneers with the business later becoming Fraser & Son. Based in Queen Street, Brisbane, Fraser & Son were land and commission agents as well as stock, station and produce brokers. Political career Fraser was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, during which time he represented three seats: Town Of Brisbane from 1868 to 1870, Bundamba from 1873 to 1878, and Brisbane South from 1880 to 1888.
