John Ferrett
John Ferrett (1812–1894) was a pastoralist and politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life John Ferrett was born in 1812 in Dorset, England, the son of Harry Ferrett and his wife Mary (née Rabbit). He immigrated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia in 1835 on the ''Fairlie''. He worked as a station hand with the Dangar family at Gostwyck Plains, before establishing Wallann Station with them at Ipswich, Queensland around 1844. He established Wooinble Bank in Maranoa in 1862. Politics John Ferrett entered the Queensland Legislative Assembly on 4 May 1860 at the 1860 colonial election as the member for the electoral district of Maranoa. He held the seat until 27 June 1863 (the 1863 election). On 13 June 1870, Samuel Hodgson, member for West Moreton, resigned. John Ferrett won the resulting by-election on 25 June 1870. Electoral District Of Maranoa
Maranoa was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland. History Maranoa of the original sixteen electorates established in 1859. Geographically it was based on the Balonne River catchment area, including the towns of Roma and St George. Despite various redistributions over the years, the electorate remained in the same general vicinity until its abolition in 1949 when most of it was included in the resurrected Electoral district of Balonne. ''The Queenslander'' was the weekly summary and literary edition of the '' Brisbane Courier'', the leading journal in the colony—and later, federal state—of Queensland since the 1850s. ''The Queenslander'' was launched by the Brisbane Newspaper Company in 1866, and discontinued in 1939. History ''The Queenslander'' was first published on 3 February 1866 in Brisbane by Thomas Blacket Stephens. The last edition was printed on 22 February 1939. Bremer River (Queensland)
The Bremer River is a river that is a tributary of the Brisbane River, located in the Scenic Rim Region, Scenic Rim and Brisbane regions of South East Queensland, Australia. The -long Bremer River drains several Scenic Rim valleys in south-east Queensland, including the Fassifern Valley, with its drainage basin, catchment area covering approximately . The Shire of Bundanba is a former local government area in the south-east of Queensland, Australia. It existed from 1879 to 1916. The spelling of ''Bundanba'' was officially changed to ''Bundamba'' in 1932, but the ''Bundamba'' spelling was in common use long prior to that.
