John Burke (American Pianist)
John Burke (born 1988) is an American pianist, composer, and songwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. Burke is best known for his solo piano albums. He has also composed scores for film, video games, and theatre. Background Burke was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where he studied Spanish and music at Oglethorpe University. He later studied public administration at Georgia State University. While in school, Burke discovered pianist George Winston and keyboardist Ray Manzarek and was inspired to become a pianist and composer. Solo piano albums In 2011, Burke released his first solo piano album, ''Synesthesia'', which used the neurological phenomenon of the same name to guide compositions based on colors. The album was reviewed positively on English and Spanish music review websites and received international radio play. The Grammy Award for Best New Age Album is presented to recording artists for quality albums in the new-age music genre at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards. Honors in several categories are presented at the ceremony annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position". Originally called the Grammy Award for Best New Age Recording, the honor was first presented to Swiss musician Andreas Vollenweider at the 29th Grammy Awards in 1987 for his album ''Down to the Moon''. Serenbe
Serenbe is a neighborhood within the city limits of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. Serenbe is an example of New Urbanism. Steve Nygren, who had previously opened a Bed & Breakfast in the area, developed Serenbe. The name "Serenbe" was his wife Marie's idea, and refers to the location’s serenity. The name is manifested from the phrases "serenity" and "to be". Serenbe's residences consist of single-family houses and row houses. All have front porches but no backyards; they face a common greenspace and trails. Proximity to shops and services encourages walking. Architectural styles include Arts and Crafts-style cottages, loft-style townhouses and sleek modern "boxes". The village comprises three hamlets. Lance Daniel Broadway (born August 20, 1983) is an American actor and former Major League Baseball pitcher. He is 6'3" and throws right-handed. High school and college Broadway was born in Bryan, Texas, and attended Grand Prairie High School, where he was an all-district performer all three of his years on the varsity team. He transferred from Grand Prairie after his junior year and attended Waxahachie High. He played with former high-school All-State player Ben Hudspeth. Hades
Hades (; grc-gre, ᾍδης, Háidēs; ), in the ancient Greek religion and myth, is the god of the dead and the king of the underworld, with which his name became synonymous. String Quintet
A string quintet is a musical composition for five string players. As an extension to the string quartet (two violins, a viola, and a cello), a string quintet includes a fifth string instrument, usually a second viola (a so-called "viola quintet") or a second cello (a "cello quintet"), or occasionally a double bass. Decatur, Georgia
Decatur is a city in, and the county seat of, DeKalb County, Georgia, which is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
