John Buckley (Canadian Politician)
John Charles Buckley was a provincial politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1921 to 1935 sitting with the United Farmers caucus in government. Political career Buckley ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1921 Alberta general election as a United Farmers candidate in the electoral district of Gleichen. He defeated Liberal candidate H. Scott with a comfortable majority to pick up the open seat for his party. Buckley ran for a second term in the 1926 Alberta general election. He increased his popular vote slightly easily winning the three-way race. The 1930 Alberta general election would see Buckley defend his seat in a hotly contested battle against Independent candidate H.S.B. Chamberlain. John Keaton Buckley (born 13 October 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Blackburn Rovers. Career Blackburn Rovers Born in Manchester, Greater Manchester, Buckley joined the academy of then Premier League club Blackburn Rovers at the age of 6 in 2006. He signed his scholarship with Rovers in June 2015 before agreeing to his first professional contract on 26 January 2018, agreeing a deal that would run until 30 June 2020. John Buckley (sculptor)
John Buckley (born 1945 in Leeds, England) is an English sculptor whose best known work is the sculpture "Untitled 1986", better known as "the Shark House" or "The Headington Shark" in Headington, a suburb of Oxford. Buckley went to sculpture classes in the evenings when studying for his O-levels in a technical college. He went on to Winchester School of Art and Leicester College of Art, and thereafter worked as a lorry driver and labourer while getting his career as sculptor off the ground. In 1976, his friend Bill Heine invited Buckley to design the sculptural fixtures on the Penultimate Picture Palace. For the facade Buckley chose a dramatic figure reminiscent of Al Jolson with outstretched hands. Mae West's lips were the inspiration for the cinema's door handles and, somewhat later Buckley would erect a male and a female figure above the toilet entrances, whimsically named Pearl and Dean. John D. Buckley (born 27 March 1967) is Professor of Military History at the University of Wolverhampton. He teaches and publishes on twentieth-century military history and strategic studies, especially on air power and the final year of World War II. Career His books and articles analyse maritime air power in the inter-war period and during World War II, most notably a study of RAF Coastal Command, and on various other aspects of air power including strategic bombing, British inter-war defence policy, and air power and total war. John Buckley (born 19 December 1951) is an Irish composer and pedagogue, a co-founder of the Ennis Summer School and member of Aosdána. Biography John Buckley was born in Templeglantine, County Limerick. He grew up in a rural environment and was introduced to traditional music learning the button accordion from the local player Liam Moloney when he was 9 years of age. In 1969 he moved to Dublin to study for the Teacher's Diploma at St Patrick's College, Drumcondra. Here he had his first opportunity to hear live classical and modern music including contemporary and avantgarde works by Irish composers including Aloys Fleischmann, Brian Boydell, John Kinsella, and Seóirse Bodley, as well as works by international composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki. John Buckley (born 2 November 1939) is an Irish Roman Catholic bishop. He was Bishop of Cork and Ross from 1997 to 2019. Biography He was born in Inchigeela (Uibh Laoire parish) in west County Cork. He studied for the priesthood at St Patrick's College, Maynooth, and was ordained in 1965. He taught on the staff of St. Finbarr's College, Farranferris, until he became its president in 1975. He worked for one year as parish priest of Turner's Cross Parish, Cork. On 16 March 1984 John Paul II named Buckley an auxiliary bishop for Cork and Ross and titular bishop of Leptis Magna. He was ordained to the episcopate on 29 April 1984. On 19 December 1997, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cork and Ross. The Institute of Modern Art (IMA) is a public art gallery located in the Judith Wright Arts Centre in the Brisbane inner-city suburb of Fortitude Valley, which features contemporary artworks and showcases emerging artists in a series of group and solo exhibitions. John Buckley (born 2 June 1958 in Ballyvolane, Cork) is an Irish former sportsperson. He played hurling with his school, the North Monastery, his local club Glen Rovers, and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1982 until 1986. Playing career Club Buckley played hurling with his local club Glen Rovers, as well as playing football with the Glen’s sister club, St. Nick’s. He first came to prominence as a dual player at minor level in the seventies. In 1976 Buckley was a dual county minor championship medalist as Carrigview and Blackthorns were accounted for in the finals. Buckley subsequently joined the club's senior teams, however, he soon gave up football to concentrate on his hurling.
