John Bickerton
John Edward Bickerton (born 23 December 1969) is an English professional golfer. He made over 400 appearances on the European Tour, winning three times, including the 2006 Open de France. Early life and amateur career Bickerton was born in Redditch, England. He won the 1990 Midland Open Amateur Championship and turned professional in 1991. Professional career Bickerton joined the Challenge Tour, Europe's second tier professional golf tour, in 1993. He won the 1994 Gore-Tex Challenge after a playoff, and was runner-up in the Dutch Challenge Open, on his way to 6th on the season-ending money list, which gave him automatic promotion to the European Tour for 1995. He initially struggled to establish himself at Europe's top level, returning to the Challenge Tour in 1997. Redditch
Redditch is a town, and local government district, in north-east Worcestershire, England, approximately south of Birmingham. The district has a population of 85,000 as of 2019. In the 19th century, it became the international centre for the needle and fishing tackle industry. At one point, 90% of the world's needles were manufactured in the town and its neighbourhoods. Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open
The Wales Open was a professional golf tournament on the European Tour played at the Celtic Manor Resort. It was played annually from 2000 to 2014, as part of a 15-year deal between the tour and the Celtic Manor Resort, that included staging the 2010 Ryder Cup. The event was not held from 2015 to 2019 but returned in 2020, following a revamp of the European Tour because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Michael Kirk (golfer)
Michael Kirk is a documentary filmmaker and partial creator of the PBS show ''Frontline'', where he worked as senior producer until 1987. Kirk founded and currently owns the production company, the Kirk Documentary Group, in Brookline, Massachusetts, which has produced dozens of award-winning documentaries, both for ''Frontline'' and through his company, that focus on political, social and cultural issues. Kirk has produced more than 200 national television programs since 1984. He is a former Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard University. Life and career Kirk was born in Denver and later moved to Boise, Idaho where he grew up and attended Bishop Kelly High School. 2005 European Tour
The 2005 European Tour was the 34th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with three tournaments held in late 2004 and consisted of 47 official money events, which was a new record total. This included four major championships and three World Golf Championships, which were also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, ten in Asia, six in the United States, two in South Africa and one each in Australia and New Zealand. Total prize money exceeded €97 million, including nearly €40 million in the four major championships and three individual World Golf Championships events. Lee Slattery
Lee Andrew Slattery (born 3 August 1978) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won twice on the tour, the 2011 Bankia Madrid Masters and the 2015 M2M Russian Open. Professional career Slattery turned professional in 1998 and spent his early career playing in minor tournaments on mini-tours in the United Kingdom. He won the Tour Championship on the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2001. At the end of 2000 he moved to South Africa to play on the Sunshine Tour during the northern hemisphere winter. The Alfred Dunhill Championship is a men's professional golf tournament which is played in South Africa. It is part of the Southern African Sunshine Tour and is one of several events in South Africa that are co-sanctioned by the more prestigious European Tour. History The tournament was founded in 2000, but its origins lie in Dunhill's sponsorship of the South African PGA Championship between 1995 and 1999. Following the 1999 Alfred Dunhill PGA Championship, the company decided to discontinue their association with the South African PGA, and create their own stand alone tournament. The 2006 Open Championship was a men's major golf championship and the 135th Open Championship, played from 20 to 23 July at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
