The thirteenth edition of the Johan Cruyff Shield ( nl, Johan Cruijff Schaal) was held on 23 August 2008 at the Amsterdam Arena. The match, which inaugurated the 2008–09 season in Dutch football, featured the 2007–08 Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven and 2007–08 KNVB Cup winners Feyenoord. PSV won 2–0. Feyenoord Rotterdam () is a Dutch professional football club in Rotterdam, which plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football. Georginio Gregion Emile Wijnaldum (formerly Boateng; born 11 November 1990) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Serie A club Roma, on loan from Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, and the Netherlands national team. A youth product of Eredivisie side Feyenoord, Wijnaldum became the youngest player ever to represent the club when he made his debut in 2007, and went on to play 134 matches over the course of a five-year spell, winning the KNVB Cup in 2008. Gertjan Verbeek (; born 1 August 1962) is a Dutch former professional footballer who last managed Eerste Divisie side Almere City. Coaching career Netherlands After retiring from his playing career in 1994, Verbeek stayed with SC Heerenveen as an assistant-coach. He left for Heracles Almelo in 2001, and after a successful stint there was hired as the successor to Foppe de Haan with SC Heerenveen. Michał Janota (; born 29 July 1990 in Gubin) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Podbeskidzie in the I liga. Mitchell Schet (born 28 January 1988) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a right winger. Club career Schet signed with Feyenoord in 2005, from the youth academy of Utrecht. He played at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru, where the Netherlands reached the semi-finals. Schet made his first-team debut on 23 August 2008 in the Dutch Super Cup against PSV Eindhoven. Kevin Greg Wattamaleo (born 25 January 1989) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Wattamaleo started in the youth of Sparta Rotterdam, before making the move to Feyenoord where he made his professional debut on 30 November 2008.
