Joel Quartermain
Joel Quartermain (born 19 January 1977) is an Australian guitarist, back-up singer, recording drummer and pianist of the band Eskimo Joe. He spent a lot of his childhood focused on radio and tapes. In 1989, he moved to Perth, Western Australia, where he attended Hollywood Senior High School. Quartermain started playing in bands from the age of 12, forming an outfit called Hollywood Boulevard, shifting from keyboards to guitar along the way. This band then evolved into a funk band called Carpet, which consisted of Quartermain on guitar, bassist Simon Leach (Little Birdy) and Simon's brother Stuart on drums . They were subsequently joined by Kavyen Temperley on vocals, changing the name of the band again to Freud's Pillows. As Freud's Pillow they released an EP, ''Pleasure Puppy'' in 1997. Steve Parkin is an Australian musician and singer-songwriter. Born in United Kingdom and raised in Perth. He is a founder member of 1990s Perth garage pop three-piece, Autopilot, who released two EPs, ''Pure Gold Baby'' in 1998 and ''Out of the Sun'' in 2001. He was also a band member of Basement Birds. He co-wrote material for Eskimo Joe's 2009 album '' Inshalla'', which peaked at number one on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Chart. "Foreign Land" is a song by Australian rock band, Eskimo Joe. It was released in April 2009 as the lead single from their fourth studio album '' Inshalla''. The song was the most added song on Australian radio in April 2009, and peaked at number 13 on the ARIA Charts and was certified gold. The single contains elements of traditional Turkish folk music from Adiyaman, Turkey. The song was written as a tribute to Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died in January 2008. National Campus Band Competition
The National Campus Music Competition (previously known as the National Campus Band Competition) is an annual Australian music competition specifically for tertiary students. The comp was created in 1990 by members of the volunteer organisation, ''Australian Association of Campus Activities,'' which later become a part of the Tertiary Access Group (TAG). The first Adelaide Student Band Competition was held in 1983 and the Victorian Student Band Competition was held in 1986, after an observation by Activities Officers on campus, that there were hundreds of student bands with nowhere to play, and needed an extra incentive to have a go.
