Joseph Swanberg (born August 31, 1981) is an American independent film director, producer, writer, and actor. The film follows a long-distance relationship and its aftermath. Andrew Bujalski (born April 29, 1977) is an American film director, screenwriter and actor, who has been called the "godfather of mumblecore." Life and career Bujalski, born in Boston in 1977, is the son of artist-turned-businesswoman Sheila Dubman and businessman Edmund Bujalski. His father is Catholic and his mother is Jewish. Bujalski studied film at Harvard's Department of Visual and Environmental Studies, where the Cinema of Belgium, Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman was his thesis advisor. It is an improvised film that premiered in 2006 at the South By Southwest Film Festival and was later released on DVD. Plot The movie follows three recent college graduates in Chicago: Tim, Chris and Alex. Tim watches the screen of his laptop as he makes out with his girlfriend. Chris conducts relationships by cellphone. Alex's preoccupation with chat rooms sabotages a potential face-to-face relationship with a girl he meets at a party.
