Joe English (loyalist)
Joe English is a former Ulster loyalist activist. English was a leading figure in both the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) and the Ulster Democratic Party (UDP) and was instrumental in the early stages of the Northern Ireland peace process. Joe English (musician)
Joe English (born February 7, 1949) is an American musician, vocalist and songwriter who, during the 1970s, played drums in Paul McCartney's band Wings and in the rock band Sea Level, among others. Biography Born on February 7, 1949 in Rochester, New York, Joe English was a member of band Jam Factory, a group based in Syracuse, that evolved into the Tall Dogs Orchestra of Macon, Georgia. Searching for an opportunity to expand his talent, he answered an ad for a drummer in early 1975. The address led him to the basement of an old building where, much to his surprise, he found himself face to face with Paul McCartney. The audition was for McCartney's Wings, and English got the job. His first album with Wings was '' Venus and Mars'' and, one album later, he would even take the lead vocals for the song, " Must Do Something About It" from ''Wings at the Speed of Sound''. Joseph Alphonse Marie English (Bruges, 5 August 1882 – Vinkem, 31 August 1918) was a Flemish draughtsman and painter. Life and work His father was an Irishman, Henry English, who married a Flemish woman, Marie Dinnewet.

Later on, Joe was naturalised as a Belgian subject, did initial military service with the Belgian Land Component, Belgian Army in 1902, and collaborated closely with the artist Juliaan Devriendt.

Joe English (20 March 19564 November 2014) was an Irish yachtsman, professional sailor and sailmaker. He competed at multiple world championship level sailing events, including the America's Cup, the Whitbread Round The World Race and Admiral's Cup race series. In 1989, English skippered Ireland's first entry to take part in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. Born into a seafaring family in Cobh, County Cork, English became an internationally successful yacht-racing captain and long distance offshore competitor. English was involved in the development of the sport of sailing in Ireland, from an amateur hobby into a full-time profession. In the 2014 ''Irish Examiner'' obituary, he was described as ''The People's Skipper''. Career English had early success in the laser (dinghy) class. George Klewitz Soward (27 August 1857 – 21 February 1941) was an architect and politician in South Australia. he was a partner in the firm English & Soward from 1880 to 1925, renamed English, Soward & Jackman from 1926 to 1936. Among other buildings, the firm was known for designing Beehive Corner, the Epworth Building, and the Queen Adelaide Club. Early life and education Soward's father, George Soward ( – 1894) migrated to the colony of South Australia aboard '' Lady Emma'', arriving in October 1838.
