Central Hockey League
The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American mid-level minor professional ice hockey league which operated from 1992 until 2014. It was founded by Ray Miron and Bill Levins and later sold to Global Entertainment Corporation, which operated the league from 2000 to 2013, at which point it was purchased by the individual franchise owners. As of the end of its final season in 2014, three of the 30 National Hockey League teams had affiliations with the CHL: the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Several teams of defunct leagues joined the CHL along its history, including the Southern Hockey League, Western Professional Hockey League and International Hockey League. After two teams suspended operations during the 2014 offseason, the ECHL accepted the remaining seven teams as members in October 2014, meaning the end for the CHL after 22 seasons. Luc Beausoleil
Luc Beausoleil (born October 8, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Junior career Beausoleil played junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Laval Voisins and Laval Titan. He was awarded the 1986–87 Frank J. Selke Memorial Trophy as the QMJHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player and was named to the 1986–87 Second All-Star Team. Professional career Beausoleil began his professional career in 1988 with the Murrayfield Racers of the British Hockey League (BHL). He also played in the BHL with the Fife Flyers and Swindon Wildcats, and in France, before returning to North America in 1992 to join the Tulsa Oilers of the new Central Hockey League (CHL). Austin Ice Bats
The Austin Ice Bats were a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Austin, Texas, from 1996 to 2008. The were originally members of the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) and later the Central Hockey League (CHL). The team was named for the Mexican free-tailed bats (''Tadarida brasiliensis'') that nest under the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge in the city. History The team was established in 1996 and played home games in Luedecke Arena at the Travis County Exposition Center, a multi-purpose building that was furnished with skating ice and dubbed the "Bat Cave" for the games. Indianapolis Ice
The Indianapolis Ice were a minor league professional ice hockey team based in Indianapolis, Indiana, that played in the International Hockey League from 1988 to 1999 and in the Central Hockey League from 1999 to 2004. Their original home arena was Fairgrounds Coliseum (then known as the Pepsi Coliseum) at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, though they later moved to Market Square Arena. After Market Square Arena closed, the Ice played some games at the Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. Their major rivals during the 1990s were the Fort Wayne Komets. This team was replaced by a team in the United States Hockey League called the Indiana Ice following the 2003–04 season, while they relocated to Topeka, Kansas, to become the Topeka Tarantulas. Christopher Neil Mackenzie (born 14 May 1972) is an English former footballer. He was a goalkeeper and most recently played for Corby Town in the Conference North. Career Mackenzie has also played for Hereford United and even scored a goal for them. The goal was scored against Barnet on the opening day of the 1995–96 season and the conceding goalkeeper was Maik Taylor, who was making his league début. As well as Shrewsbury and Hereford and several non-league clubs, Mackenzie has played in the Football League for Leyton Orient and Chester City. Derek Grant (born March 18, 1974) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player. Early life Born in 1974 in Cornwall, Ontario, Grant played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Newmarket Royals, Niagara Falls Thunder, and Ottawa 67's. Career Grant made his professional debut during the 1994–95 AHL season with the Adirondack Red Wings of the American Hockey League.
