Joe Benitez
Joe Benitez (born May 21, 1971) is an American comic book artist. He is co-creator and penciller of '' Weapon Zero'', published by Top Cow Productions. Comic Book
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. These British comics existed alongside of the popular lurid "Penny dreadfuls" (such as "Spring-heeled Jack"), boys' " Story papers" and the humorous Punch (magazine) which was the first to use the term "cartoon" in its modern sense of a humorous drawing. Aspen Comics (Aspen MLT Inc.) is a California entertainment company founded in 2003 by artist Michael Turner. It has locations in Santa Monica and Marina Del Rey. The company is best known for producing comic books and figurines. History The company was founded by comic book artist Michael Turner in January 2003. The name "Aspen" comes from the main character in Turner's comic series, '' Fathom''. Lady Mechanika
Lady Mechanika is a steampunk comic created by comic artist Joe Benitez. History of the series The ''Lady Mechanika'', a comic series in the steampunk genre, was originally planned as a six-part story. Aspen MLT agreed to produce the serial and began publishing them on an infrequent basis. The first issue of ''Lady Mechanika'', issue #0, debuted and sold out in October, 2010. The third issue was scheduled for release December 21, 2011. At the Steamcon III convention, held October 2011 in Bellevue, Washington, Joe Benitez won the ''Airship Award'' in the Visual category for his work on the comic. Lady Mechanika's look was inspired by steampunk fashion icon Kate Lambert, Kato. Soulfire (comics)
''Soulfire'' is a comic book produced by Aspen MLT that is one in a line of titles created by Michael Turner. The original characters were created between 2000 and 2002 with ''Soulfire'' (originally named ''Dragonfly'') set to be produced under Top Cow, although that never came to be. Only when Michael Turner started his company, Aspen MLT, did the comic begin production in April 2003. Publication history The ''Soulfire'' 'preview' issue was first printed in '' Wizard'' magazine #139 in March 2003. The preview introduced the two central protagonists of the story, Malikai and Grace. Teen Titans
The Teen Titans are a superhero team appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, frequently in eponymous monthly series. As the group's name indicates, the members are teenage superheroes, many of whom have acted as sidekicks to DC's premier superheroes in the Justice League. The original team later becomes known as the Titans when the members age out of their teenage years, while the Teen Titans name is continued by subsequent generations of young heroes.
