Jodi Evans
Jodi Evans (born 16 August 1968) is a Canadian basketball player. Evans played for the Canada Women's National Basketball Team at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Evans made international headlines in 1993 as the first woman to represent the Oxford University men's basketball team in The Varsity Game against Cambridge University. University of Calgary Dinos Evans was with the University of Calgary Dinos from 1987 to 1991. In 2005, she was inducted into the University of Calgary Hall of Fame. University of Oxford Blues (1991 to 1994) Evans attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar in 1991 and graduated with a DPhil in Management Studies. While at Oxford, Evans was a key member of the 1994 National Championship Oxford University Women's Basketball Team. The Canadian women's national basketball team represents Canada in international basketball competitions. They are overseen by Canada Basketball, the governing body of basketball in Canada. They are currently ranked fourth by FIBA. Oxford University Men's Basketball
The Oxford University Men's Basketball Team is one of the oldest and most successful university basketball teams in the United Kingdom. The University of Oxford has a rich basketball tradition with the earliest record of basketball being played at the university being reported by the New York Times in 1893, just two years after the game's invention. The first known Oxford University basketball team was selected in 1921 and competed against Cambridge University in the inaugural Oxford-Cambridge Varsity Basketball Match. The Varsity Game
The Varsity Game is an annual basketball fixture played between the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge which dates back to 1921. The first post-war Varsity Game was played on 11 June 1949 at RAF Halton and resulted in a 47-11 Oxford win. It has remained an annual event ever since. In the 1950s, The Varsity Game between Oxford and Cambridge was one of the highlights of the British basketball calendar. The game was of national interest and was held at the Empire Pool and Indoor Arena, Wembley. Uncommon for basketball in the United Kingdom, the Oxford-Cambridge rivalry basketball game received coverage from the national press. Calgary Dinos
The Calgary Dinos are the athletic teams that represent the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. They were known as the "Dinosaurs" but usually referred to as the "Dinos" until 1999, when the name was officially shortened. Some of its venues are the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (basketball m/w, volleyball m/w, track and field m/w), McMahon Stadium (football, soccer m/w), Hawkings Field (field hockey), University of Calgary Aquatic Centre (swimming, often shortened to Aquatic Centre) and a 200m Running Track (cross-country and track & field practices).
