Jockey Club Mile
The Jockey Club Mile is a Group 2 set weights Thoroughbred horse race in Hong Kong, run at Sha Tin over 1600 metres in November. In the 2003/2004 racing season, this race was upgraded to a domestic Group 2 event. The race was promoted to International Group 2 status in 2010. The prize money in season 2013/14 is HK$3,500,000, which was increased to HK$3,875,000 in season 2014/15. Thoroughbred
The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word ''thoroughbred'' is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Thoroughbreds are considered " hot-blooded" horses that are known for their agility, speed, and spirit. The Thoroughbred, as it is known today, was developed in 17th- and 18th-century England, when native mares were crossbred with imported Oriental stallions of Arabian, Barb, and Turkoman breeding. João Moreira (born September 26, 1983, in Curitiba-Paraná , Brazil), is a jockey currently based in Hong Kong after successful seasons in Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. He is believed to have a set a world record of riding eight winners from eight rides on the nine-event card on Friday September 6, 2013, at Kranji race course in Singapore. Vincent C Y Ho (born 25 May 1990) is a horse racing jockey. He made an impressive start to his riding career with 10 wins in his first season in 2009/10. Golden Sixty ( zh, 金鎗六十, foaled 14 October 2015) is a champion Australian-bred Hong Kong-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Four-Year-Old Classic Series in year 2020 and was named the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 Hong Kong Horse of the Year. After being sold to New Zealand-based interests as a yearling he was exported to Hong Kong as a two-year-old. In his first season the gelding won his first three races but ran unplaced in his final start. In the 2019/2020 season he emerged as one of the best horses in Hong Kong as he was undefeated in seven starts including the Chinese Club Challenge Cup, Hong Kong Classic Mile, Hong Kong Classic Cup, and Hong Kong Derby. Beauty Generation (; foaled 27 September 2012) is a New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racehorse best known for his performances in Hong Kong. He began his career as a three-year-old in Australia where he won two races and ran second in the Rosehill Guineas before being exported to Hong Kong. As a four-year-old he won twice and was placed third in both the Hong Kong Classic Mile and the Hong Kong Derby. In the following year he emerged as the best racehorse in Hong Kong, winning five races including the Celebration Cup, Sha Tin Trophy, Hong Kong Mile, Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup and Champions Mile and being named Hong Kong Horse of the Year. Zac Purton
Zac Purton (born 3 January 1983) is a horse racing jockey. He won the Brisbane jockeys' premiership as an apprentice in 2003, moved to Sydney and was quickly amongst the top jockeys there before he began his Hong Kong career in 2007/08. In the 2013/14 season, Purton ended the 13-year championship reign of Douglas Whyte, becoming the first Australian jockey to win the Hong Kong title since Noel Barker in 1991. . (112 wins).
