Joana Amaral Dias
Joana Beatriz Nunes Vicente Amaral Dias (born 3 May 1975) is a Portuguese politician and clinical psychologist. She was member of the Portuguese Parliament for the Left Bloc (2002–2005). Amaral Dias was the National Democratic Alternative head of list for the 2024 European Parliament election. Personal life She is the daughter of psychiatrist Carlos Amaral Dias. Besides clinical practice, university teaching and scientific research, she is the author of numerous papers and scholarly articles. In 2010 she published the book ''Maníacos de Qualidade'' ("Maniacs of Quality"), a biographical and psychological analysis of historical figures in Portugal. She attended the pharmacy program at the University of Coimbra as a freshwoman, however, she would graduate in psychology at the same university. She has a brother, Henrique, and a sister, Leonor. SIC Notícias () is the cable news channel of the Portuguese television network SIC (''Sociedade Independente de Comunicação'') and the second thematic channel of the station. It is available on basic cable and satellite. It replaced CNL (''Canal de Notícias de Lisboa''), a Lisbon region independent cable news channel owned by TV Cabo, on January 8, 2001. Since the end of 2003, SIC Notícias has also been available in Angola and Mozambique via satellite or cable. Mário Alberto Nobre Lopes Soares, GColTE, GCC, GColL (; 7 December 1924 – 7 January 2017) was a Portuguese politician, who served as prime minister of Portugal from 1976 to 1978 and from 1983 to 1985, and subsequently as the 17th president of Portugal from 1986 to 1996. Portuguese Presidential Election, 2006
The 2006 Portuguese presidential election was held on 22 January to elect a successor to the incumbent President Jorge Sampaio, who was term-limited from running for a third consecutive term by the Constitution of Portugal. The result was a victory in the first round for Aníbal Cavaco Silva of the Social Democratic Party candidate, the former Prime Minister, won 50.54 percent of the vote in the first round, just over the majority required to avoid a runoff election. It was the first time in which a right-wing candidate was elected President of the Republic since the 1974 Carnation Revolution. Voter turnout was 61.53 percent for eligible voters.
