Joan Guinjoan
Joan Guinjoan i Gispert (28 November 1931 – 1 January 2019) was a Catalan composer and pianist. Life Born in Riudoms, Guinjoan studied at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona. In 1954, he moved to Paris and continued his studies at the École normale de musique. He also received instruction from Cristòfor Taltabull. After more than 250 piano recitals, he abandoned his career as a pianist in the 1960s. He then devoted himself to composition. In 1962, he joined the Schola Cantorum de Paris. He returned to Barcelona the following year. In 1999 he received the Creu de Sant Jordi, a distinction awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, then in 2001, he received the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. Riudoms
Riudoms is a town in the ''comarca'' of Baix Camp, province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, located about five kilometres from the regional capital Reus. The main product is the hazelnut, today in recession, and extra virgin olive oil. History Riudoms was a Roman rural settlement (some archaeological remains and coins were discovered), that was depopulated when the Muslims dominated the region in the 8th century. Conquered by the Norman Robert d'Aguiló under the orders of the Catalan count, the lordship of Riudoms was granted to Arnau de Palomar on 24 January 1150. A castle was constructed and a town born at side. Schola Cantorum De Paris Alumni
Scholae ( el, Σχολαί) is a Latin word, literally meaning "schools" (from the singular ''schola'', ''school'' or ''group'') that was used in the late Roman Empire to signify a unit of Imperial Guards. The unit survived in the Byzantine Empire until the 12th century. The Cadaqués Orchestra (''Orquesta de Cadaqués'' panish ''Orquestra de Cadaqués'' atalan is a chamber orchestra based in Cadaqués, Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1988 to be the resident orchestra of the Cadaqués Festival, the orchestra has since become an established orchestra with a regular concert season. The orchestra hosts the Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition, which occurs every two years.
