''Jo Caulfield Won't Shut Up'' is a BBC radio comedy series, written by and starring Jo Caulfield, with special guests Zoe Lyons, Simon Greenall, and Nick Revell, which first aired on BBC Radio 4 in November 2009. The series followed Caulfield's previous series ''It's That Jo Caulfield Again'', which also aired on Radio 4, and involved Caulfield and guests discussing diverse topics such as cheese and onion crisps, the teashops of Dundee, and Tony Benn. It was billed as being more acerbic than Radio 4's usual output, and contained moderate swearing and sexual references. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Jo Caulfield
Josephine Caulfield (born 26 September 1965) is a British actress, writer and comedian. Biography Born in Wales to Irish parents, she was brought up in Derbyshire and Leicestershire, England. At 17, Caulfield moved to London. For two years she lived in a squat in Kilburn Park, West London, and played drums in a rockabilly band. Heavily influenced by The Cramps and The Fleshtones the band went nowhere fast due to their "lack of songs, musical ability and talent. But we did wear nice clothes" (Jo Caulfield, Radio 4 interview). Nick Revell
Nick Revell is a British comedian and writer for radio and television. Born John Revell, he studied at Lincoln College, Oxford. Revell started performing stand-up in 1980 at Comedy Store, where he later became a regular MC, between 1982 and 1992. According to his website, he then gave up being a stand-up comedian and started writing for radio and television until 2002. At the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987 he was nominated for the Perrier Award and won The Blackheath Award for Excellence.
