Jo-Ann Rizzo
Jo-Ann Rizzo (born June 1, 1963 in Zweibrücken, West Germany) is a Canadian curler from Brantford, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Kerry Galusha. Career Rizzo grew up in Germany, where her father was stationed in the military. She moved to Canada at age 16. She attended the University of Western Ontario where she won two Ontario University Athletics championships. As of 2013, Rizzo has played in 13 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. She is also a former provincial mixed champion. She played third for her husband Nick Rizzo at the 2003 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, where they finished in 4th place. Rizzo qualified for the 2005 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, where she and her rink of Cheryl McPherson, Kimberly Tuck and Sara Gatchell finished in 9th with a 2-7 record. Kimberly Tuck ( Veale; born September 25, 1974) is a Canadian curling, curler from Strathroy, Ontario. She is a former Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, Canadian Mixed Doubles Champion, having won the 2014 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials with her husband Wayne Tuck Jr., Wayne. Canadian Mixed Curling Championship
The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship is the national curling championship for mixed curling in Canada. The winners of the tournament will represent Canada at the World Mixed Curling Championship. In mixed curling, the positions on a team must alternate between men and women. If a man throws last rocks, which is usually the case, the women must throw lead rocks and third rocks, while the other male member of the team throws second rocks. In 2004, Shannon Kleibrink became the only woman to skip a team and win a Canadian Mixed championship. History The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship was established in 1964, with Canadian Breweries as the event's sponsor and Frank Sargent (sports executive), Frank Sargent as its committee chairman. Nick Rizzo (curler)
Nick Rizzo (born July 24, 1961) is a Canadian curler from Brantford, Ontario. He was active on the World Curling Tour until 2015. He is a former provincial junior and mixed champion. In 1979, his rink of Dan Aitchison, Brad Hager and Chris Hager won the provincial junior championship, finishing the event in first place with a 6–1 round robin record. The team represented Ontario at the 1979 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing with a 4–7 record, tied for eighth. In 1988, he won a provincial Colts championship and in April 2002, he won the 2003 Ontario Mixed Championship with his wife Jo-Ann and teammates Gareth Parry and Vicki Advent, defeating the Peter Mellor rink in the final. This qualified the team to represent Ontario at the 2003 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. The Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts is the Ontario provincial curling championship for women's curling. The tournament is run by CurlON, the curling association for Southern Ontario.
