Jiří Kodet
Jiří Kodet (6 December 1937 – 25 June 2005) was a Czech actor. He appeared in more than ninety films between 1951 and 2003. His mother Jiřina Steimarová and his daughter Barbora Kodetová Barbora Kodetová (born 6 September 1970) is a Czech actress perhaps best known for her portrayal of Paul Atreides' concubine Chani in the 2000 television miniseries ''Frank Herbert's Dune'' and its 2003 sequel, ''Frank Herbert's Children of D ... are also actresses. ''Cosy Dens'' ( cz, Pelíšky) is a 1999 Czech film directed by Jan Hřebejk. It is loosely based on the novel '' Hovno Hoří'' (Czech: "Flaming Feces") by Petr Šabach. It was voted the best Czech film by ''Reflex'' magazine in 2011. Plot summary Pelíšky is a bittersweet coming-of-age story set in the months from Christmas 1967 leading up to the ill-fated 1968 Prague Spring. ''Arabela'' was a children's television series produced in Czechoslovakia which aired from 1979 to 1981. The series has 13 episodes and is in Czech. Synopsis The series revolves around the members of a regular family, the Majers, who encounter people from the Fairy Tale Kingdom. Karel Majer, an actor and fairy tale reader on children's TV, one day finds a small bell which, when rung, summons an enigmatic figure calling himself Rumburak the Magician who claims that he is intent on fulfilling every wish Majer has. In order to please his children at a fair's shooting gallery, Majer wishes to learn to shoot, which Rumburak grants; but the wolf Majer shoots unexpectedly begins to talk in the human tongue as it lies dying. As it turns out, Rumburak has taken Majer to the Realm of Fairy Tales for his shooting lessons, and the wolf was the principal antagonist from the tale of Red Riding Hood. ''Atentát'' (English title: ''The Assassination'') is a 1964 black-and-white Czechoslovak war film directed by Jiří Sequens. The World War II story depicts events before and after the assassination of top German leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague (''Operation Anthropoid''). Czech historians have called the film the historically most accurate depiction of the events surrounding ''Operation Anthropoid''. The agents portrayed in the film are not referred to by their real names but by the historical cover names they assumed for the operation. For example, Jan Kubiš is called Otto Strnad. ''Morgiana'' is a 1972 Czechoslovak Gothic drama film directed by Juraj Herz, based on a novel by Alexander Grin, '' Jessie and Morgiana'' (1929, Wikisource: ''Джесси и Моргиана''). The story is about two sisters, Klara and Viktoria, and the jealousy that overcomes Viktoria when her sister inherits most of their father's property. When Klara becomes involved with a man that her sister loves, Viktoria begins to plot her murder. The roles of both sisters are played by the actress Iva Janžurová. ''The Sarajevo Assassination'') is a 1975 Czechoslovak-Yugoslav-German co-production film directed by Veljko Bulajić, starring Christopher Plummer and Florinda Bolkan. The film is about the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, Sophie in Sarajevo in 1914 and the immediate aftermath that led to the outbreak of World War I. When the only surviving heir to Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was killed by Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian nationalism, Serbian nationalist, on 28 June 1914, his death set in motion a chain of events that resulted in the First World War.
