2012 AFC Futsal Championship
The 2012 AFC Futsal Championship was held in United Arab Emirates from 25 May to 1 June 2012. 16 countries took part in the 12th edition of the tournament. It was also be the qualification event for the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Thailand. The AFC Futsal Committee pushed the dates for the event forward from the original May 18 to May 25. In its first meeting for the 2011-2015 term under the chairmanship of Guam's Richard Lai, the AFC Futsal Committee decided to award the championship to United Arab Emirates. Futsal Forwards
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. Naming ''Futsal'' comes from the Portuguese ''futebol de salão'' and from the Spanish ''fútbol sala'' or ''fútbol de salón'' (all translatable as "indoor football"). Mahdi Javid ( fa, مهدی جاوید; born 3 May 1987) is an Iranian professional futsal player. He is currently a member of Mes Sungun in the Iranian Futsal Super League. Vahid Shamsaei ( fa, وحید شمسايی ; born 21 September 1975) is an Iranian professional futsal coach and former player. He was a Pivot and he scored 392 goals in international matches. He is currently head coach of Iran national futsal team. Shamsaei has been named AFC Futsal Player of the Year on three occasions (2007, 2008 and 2015). 2017 AFC Futsal Club Championship
The 2017 AFC Futsal Club Championship was the 8th edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship, an annual international futsal club tournament in Asia organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 20 to 30 July 2017. The tournament was won by Chonburi Bluewave from Thailand after defeating Giti Pasand Isfahan from Iran 3–2 in the final. The win was Chonburi Bluewave's second Asian title, following after they won the 2013 AFC Futsal Club Championship four years ago. The 2016 AFC Futsal Club Championship was the 7th edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship, the annual Asian futsal club championship organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The tournament was held in Bangkok, Thailand between July 17 and July 23, 2016. Qualified teams A total of 12 teams from 12 AFC member associations participated in the tournament. AFC Futsal Club Championship
The AFC Futsal Club Championship is the current highest Asian futsal club competition, hosted by the Asian Football Confederation. It is futsal equivalent to AFC Champions League. For the inaugural edition, AFC Futsal Committee decided to make it an invitational event, and each member association has been asked to nominate their national league champions for the tournament. History and format A trial edition, named 2006 Asia Futsal Cup, was run in 2006 with six teams participating. Iranian team Shensa Saveh beat Uzbek Ardus FC 5–1 in the final. The first recognised edition by the AFC was held in 2010 and ran with ten teams, forming two groups of five teams. The top two finishers then proceeded to the semi-finals. Since 2015 the final tournament is played with 12 teams.
