Jio Jalalon
Jiovani Nacawili Jalalon (born August 2, 1992) is a Filipino professional basketball player who currently plays for the Magnolia Hotshots of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Early life The third of the six children of Vicente Jalalon and Jocelyn Nacawili, Jiovani was born on August 2, 1992 to a poor family in Cagayan de Oro City. His inspiration in playing basketball is the unrealized dreams of his father, whose lack of a proper education and opportunities denied him of a chance of becoming a basketball player himself. Jiovani has a younger brother, Jericho, who also plays basketball. Magnolia Hotshots
The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, or simply known as the Magnolia Hotshots, are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association. The team is owned by San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc., a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the San Miguel Beermen. Nard John "Nards" V. Pinto (born October 15, 1990) is a Filipino basketball player for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Professional career Pinto was drafted 19th overall by the GlobalPort Batang Pier in the 2014 PBA draft. In 2015, he joined the Mahindra Enforcer. In September 2016, he joined the Blackwater Elite after becoming an unrestricted free agent. On January 7, 2019, he was traded to the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters for Joseph Eriobu. However, before appearing in a game with the Fuel Masters, on January 12, he was traded to the Meralco Bolts for Jason Ballesteros and a 2020 second-round pick. The Arellano University Chiefs is the athletic team of Arellano University. It is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA). The team has several intercollegiate varsity sports teams for women and men at Arellano. History Originally as the Arellano Flaming Arrows, the team won the National Student's Championship (NSC) in the 1970s. Years later, the Chiefs entered the best-of-three finals in the men's basketball division of the NCRAA in 2006 when they were defeated by the Saint Francis of Assisi College Doves. 2016 SEABA Cup
The 2016 SEABA Cup was the qualifying event in the SEABA for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge. The fifth edition of the games took place from 22 May to 28 May 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. Automatically, only one spot was allotted for SEABA but due to the Philippines' runner-up finish in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, the subzone was awarded another slot, thus SEABA had two spots which was contested by five SEABA teams. The won their second tournament title by defeating the hosts in the championship match, 97-80. However, both teams were already qualified to the main tournament as of 25 May due to their top two finish in the elimination round. The Philippines have dominated the men's events since the sport was played, winning 18 of the 21 events. Malaysia won 13 of the 20 women's events. 2017 SEABA Championship
The 12th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship was the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It also served as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It was held from 12 to 18 May 2017 in the Philippines. Originally scheduled to be held from 23 to 30 April 2017, SEABA decided to postpone the tournament to 15 to 21 May 2017 due to conflicting schedule with the ASEAN Basketball League and the Indonesian Basketball League.
