Jimpster
Jimpster (a.k.a. Audiomontage, a.k.a. Franc Spangler, real name Jamie Odell) is a British deep house producer and DJ. Together with Tom Roberts, he founded the labels Freerange Records and Delusions of Grandeur. While producing his own tracks and playing live shows, Jimpster has also worked on remixes, including a remix of the song 400 years by Bob Marley. History Born into a musical family, Jimpster was influenced and encouraged by his father Roger Odell who is the drummer in the jazz-funk band Shakatak. It was there that he was first exposed to electronic synthesizers and recording equipment at around age 10. Shakatak
Shakatak is an English jazz-funk band founded in 1980 by Nigel Wright and former Wigan Casino DJ Kev Roberts. Following an initial white label release 'Steppin', the band's name was derived from a record store in Soho, London Record Shack. It was they who first showed interest in the initial single. Shakatak scored a number of chart entries, including two Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart, " Night Birds" (1982) and "Down on the Street" (1984), plus a further 12 entries in the ''Guinness Book of British Hit Singles''. The group is still active and popular throughout the world, particularly in Japan and the Far East, and generally produce a new album every two years on JVC Records. Shadow Records
Shadow Records was launched in 1995 as an Instinct Records sub-label to focus on the more organic side of the underground electronic music scene. The label's first release in 1995 defined this approach with ''Abstrackt Workshop'', which featured performances by DJ Krush, Funki Porcini, and Marden Hill in addition to songs from the such cutting edge labels as ''Pussyfoot'' and ''Yellow Productions''. The next step included a 2-year involvement with the incredible UK beats label Ninja Tune. The Bays (band)
The Bays are an English group of musicians who only play live improvised Electronic music. They have never rehearsed nor recorded in a studio as they do not release music commercially and are independent of record labels. Their slogan is "Performance is the Product". Performances The Bays gig regularly and are known for their live shows. Sets are improvised, with the band playing off the mood of the audience and the atmosphere. Performances vary from an ambient set to one that is predominantly drum and bass, typically including several genres melded into a continuous piece of music, similar to a DJ set. Braintree, Essex
Braintree is a town and former civil parish in Essex, England. The principal settlement of Braintree District, it is located northeast of Chelmsford and west of Colchester. According to the 2011 Census, the town had a population of 41,634, while the urban area, which includes Great Notley, Rayne and High Garrett, had a population of 53,477. Braintree has grown contiguously with several surrounding settlements. Instinct Records is a New York City electronic-music record label that first gained prominence in 1989. It is best known for releasing much of Moby's early work. Moby produced a number of tracks under various monikers so that in the early days, the label would appear to have a larger roster of acts. The label has several sublabels, which include Evolver, Instinct Ambient, Kickin Records US, Liquid Music, Shadow Records, and Sonic Records. Beatport is an American electronic music-oriented online music store owned by LiveStyle. The company is based in Denver, Los Angeles, and Berlin. Beatport is oriented primarily towards DJs, selling full songs as well as resources that can be used for remixes. Established in 2004, the service was acquired in 2013 by Robert F. X. Sillerman's company SFX Entertainment for a reported price of slightly over $50 million.
