Jimmy Mulroy
James Mulroy (1 August 1940 – 12 February 2013) was an Irish Gaelic footballer, manager and politician. He played as a right wing-forward for the Louth senior team. Mulroy made his first appearance for the team during the 1959 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1972 championship. During that time he found little success on the inter-county scene. At club level Mulroy had a lengthy career with Newtown Blues winning nine county club championship medals. In retirement from playing Mulroy became involved in coaching and team management. He found little success during his two stints as Louth manager, however, he successfully managed Oliver Plunkett's to junior and intermediate championships. Louth GAA
The Louth County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae an Lú) or Louth GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Louth. The county board is also responsible for the Louth county teams. 1987 Irish General Election
The 1987 Irish general election was held on Tuesday, 17 February, four weeks after the dissolution of the Dáil on 20 January. A continuing crisis over public finance had led to the collapse of Garret FitzGerald's coalition government and the dissolution. The 25th Dáil assembled at Leinster House on 10 March and Charles Haughey was appointed as Taoiseach leading a Fianna Fáil minority government. The general election took place in 41 parliamentary constituencies throughout Ireland for 166 seats in the lower house of parliament, Dáil Éireann. There were minor amendments to constituency boundaries under the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1983. Leinster ( ; ga, Laighin or ) is one of the provinces of Ireland, situated in the southeast and east of Ireland. The province comprises the ancient Kingdoms of Meath, Leinster and Osraige. Following the 12th-century Norman invasion of Ireland, the historic "fifths" of Leinster and Meath gradually merged, mainly due to the impact of the Pale, which straddled both, thereby forming the present-day province of Leinster. The ancient kingdoms were shired into a number of counties for administrative and judicial purposes.
