Lieutenant Colonel Jimi Koroi (~ - February 2022) was a Fijian Military and Police officer who was appointed acting Commissioner of Police by the military regime following the 2006 Fijian coup d'état. Republic Of Fiji Military Forces
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF, formerly the Royal Fiji Military Forces) is the military force of the Pacific island nation of Fiji. With a total manpower of about 4,000 active soldiers and approximately 6,000 reservists, it is one of the smallest militaries in the world. The Ground Force is organised into six infantry and one engineer battalions. 2006 Fijian Coup D'état
The Fijian coup d'état of December 2006 was a coup d'état carried out by Commodore Frank Bainimarama, Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, against the government of President Josefa Iloilo. Iloilo was removed as president, but he was later reinstated by Bainimarama on 4 January 2007. The coup occurred as a continuation of the pressure which had been building since the military unrest of the 2000 Fijian coup d'état and 2005–06 Fijian political crisis. Fiji had seen four definitive coups in the past two decades. At the heart of the previous three of these lay the tensions between the ethnic Fijians and Indian Fijians. Religion played a significant role; the majority of ethnic Fijians belong to the Methodist church, whereas the majority of the Indians are Hindu. Gau (pronounced ) is an island belonging to Fiji's Lomaiviti archipelago. Moses Driver is a Fijian police officer, who is the immediate past Deputy Commissioner of Police. In this capacity, he assisted Commissioner of Police Andrew Hughes. A major part of Driver's work was pursuing investigations into the Fiji coup of 2000. Driver became Acting Police Commissioner on 29 November 2006, when Andrew Hughes took a leave of absence during the crisis which culminated in a military coup on 5 December. The next day, Radio New Zealand reported that Driver had been arrested by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for refusing to take instructions from the military government. Romanu Tikotikoca is a Fijian police officer and diplomat, who served as acting Commissioner of Police from December 2006 to July 2007, and Fiji's High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea from 2012 to 2015. Tikotikoca hails from the island of Taveuni, in Cakaudrove Province. He joined the police force in 1968. Senior positions held by Tikotikoca include Divisional Police Commander, Head of Special Branch unit, and Assistant Police Commissioner, Crime.
