Jim Small
James Richard Small (22 September 1933 – 29 October 2021) was an Australian politician. He was the National Party member for Murray in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1999. Small was born at Bondi in Sydney. He was educated at Deniliquin and underwent national service 1954–56. He became a bank clerk and then primary producer, and married Judith on 15 October 1955 (they had four children: two sons and two daughters). He was active in the local community and in the local branch of the Country Party for many years. In 1984, following the resignation of the member for the local state seat of Murray, Tim Fischer, to contest the federal seat of Farrer, Small was selected as the Nationals' candidate for the by-election. He was elected without difficulty, defeating his only opponent, independent candidate Ray Brooks, with a 12.96% margin. The Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), also known as NSW Labor, is the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party. The parliamentary leader is elected from and by the members of the party caucus, comprising all party members in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The party factions have a strong influence on the election of the leader. The leader's position is dependent on the continuing support of the caucus (and party factions) and the leader may be deposed by failing to win a vote of confidence of parliamentary members. Bill Beckroge
William Harmon Beckroge (born 10 December 1944) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1981 until 1999. He was a member of the ALP. Beckroge was born in Toowoomba. He was educated at the University of New England and worked as a print, TV and radio journalist in Broken Hill. He won Labor Party pre-selection for the seat of Broken Hill Broken Hill is an inland mining city in the far west of outback New South Wales, Australia. It encompasses several local government areas, namely Wentworth Shire, Balranald Shire, Carrathool Shire, the City of Griffith, Leeton Shire, Hay Shire, Murrumbidgee Shire, Murray River Council, Edward River Council and Berrigan Shire. The Division of Farrer is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. Geography Since 1984, federal electoral division boundaries in Australia have been determined at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Tim Fischer
Timothy Andrew Fischer (3 May 1946 – 22 August 2019) was an Australian politician and diplomat who served as leader of the National Party from 1990 to 1999. He was Deputy Prime Minister in the Howard Government from 1996 to 1999. Fischer was born in Lockhart, New South Wales. He served with the Australian Army in the Vietnam War. On his return he bought a farming property at Boree Creek. He served in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1971 to 1984. Fischer was elected to the House of Representatives at the 1984 election, representing the Division of Farrer until his retirement in 2001. He replaced Charles Blunt as leader of the National Party in 1990, and in the Howard Government served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade.
