Jim Moffitt
James Edward Moffitt (30 June 1887 – 16 March 1964) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A lock, Moffitt represented at a provincial level either side of World War II, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1920 and 1921. He played 12 matches for the All Blacks including three internationals. During World War I, Moffitt served in the Auckland Infantry Regiment and rose to the rank of second lieutenant. He was a member of the New Zealand Division rugby team in the Somme Cup The Somme Cup is a rugby trophy first won by a New Zealand Army team, known as the Trench Blacks, during World War I in 1917. Waikaia
Waikaia, formerly known as Switzers, is a town in the Southland region of New Zealand's South Island. From 1909 until 1959, it was the terminus of the Waikaia Branch railway. The population in the 2013 census was 99, unchanged from the previous census in 2006. The town is in the Southland District and is covered by the Waikaia Community Development Area Sub-committee. Facilities include a museum, to which is attached an iconic "bottle house", constructed from approximately 20,000 wine bottles. The historic Glenaray Station farm is located close to Waikaia. Waikumete Cemetery
Waikumete Cemetery, originally Waikomiti Cemetery, is New Zealand's largest cemetery. It occupies a site of 108 hectares in Glen Eden, New Zealand, Glen Eden, Auckland, and also contains a crematorium in the south-west corner of the cemetery. History Waikumete Cemetery was established in 1886 and is the final resting place for over 70,000 people. It was established after the Symonds Street Cemetery was surrounded by residential housing, and its location was decided by the proximity of the nearby Glen Eden railway station, as access by railway was desired. Passengers would travel to Waikumete on the same train as their loved ones in special train services held on Sundays. The funeral carriage was separated from passengers, and used a separate platform.
