James Melvin Hughes (October 20, 1965, Mobile, Alabama – July 25, 1995) was an American professional boxer in the welterweight division. Boxing career Known as "Jesse James" and "The Outlaw", Hughes turned professional in 1987 and is perhaps best known for his appearances on the USA Tuesday Night Fights series. James C Hughes is an English bassist who has played with many punk rock and new wave bands, and whose career as a rock musician and writer continues to this day. Born to Irish parents in London, Hughes, inspired by the glam rock sensibilities of his hero Ziggy Stardust, and the bass playing of Free's Andy Fraser, began his career in music at the birth of punk rock with the Banned, enjoying immediate success as their first single "Little Girl" broke into the UK top 30. After the Banned dissolved, Hughes joined Cowboys International, forming a rhythm section with drummer Terry Chimes, formerly of the Clash, together playing on the album '' The Original Sin'' in 1979, and the subsequent tours, television and radio appearances of the band. James J. Hughes (born May 27, 1961) is an American sociologist and bioethicist. He is the Executive Director of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and teaches health policy at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in the United States. He is the author of ''Citizen Cyborg: Why Democratic Societies Must Respond to the Redesigned Human of the Future'' and is currently writing a book about moral bioenhancement tentatively titled ''Cyborg Buddha: Using Neurotechnology to Become Better People''. William James Hughes (1894 – 5 December 1979) was an Anglican bishop in the 20th century. Life and career Born in 1894, Hughes was educated at the University of Leeds and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was ordained Deacon in 1921 and Priest in 1922 after a course of study at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. After a period as curate at St Matthew's, Leicester he was appointed Priest in charge at St Hilda's, Leicester. From there, he moved to become Vicar of St Benedict, Bordesley after which he was appointed Rector then Dean of St George's Cathedral, Georgetown, Guyana. In 1944, Hughes was appointed Bishop of British Honduras. After a very short time in this post, he was translated to Barbados, during which time he set up the Barbados Church Association to prepare for disestablishment. Jim Hughes (born September 7, 1964) is a former state representative for the 24th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a Republican. The district consists of portions of Columbus, as well as Grove City, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, and Worthington in Franklin County. Hughes formerly was a member of the Ohio Senate from 2009 to 2016. He served in a similar seat in the House as well from 2000 to 2008. Career Hughes began his career in public service as a prosecutor in the Columbus City Prosecutor's Office and later, as an Assistant County Prosecutor for Franklin County. With Representative E. J. James Madison Hughes (April 7, 1809 – February 26, 1861) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri. Born in Bourbon County, Kentucky, Hughes received a liberal schooling. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and practiced in Liberty, Missouri. He also engaged in mercantile pursuits in Liberty. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1839. Hughes was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress (March 4, 1843 – March 3, 1845). He moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1855 and engaged in the banking business. James Joseph Hughes
James Joseph Hughes (August 15, 1856 – March 5, 1941) was a Canadian politician. Born in St. Mary's Road, Prince Edward Island, Hughes was the son of Irish parents. He was educated at the Log School House in St. Mary's Road and was a graduate of St. Dunstan's College in Charlottetown. A merchant, he was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the electoral district of King's in the general elections of 1900. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1904 but was defeated in 1908. He was elected again in 1911 and was defeated in 1917. He was elected again in 1921. In 1925, he was summoned the Senate of Canada representing the senatorial division of King's, Prince Edward Island on the advice of Prime Minister Mackenzie King. He served until his death in 1941. His son, William Hughes was a cabinet minister on PEI.
