Jim Barrie
James Ross Barrie (August 14, 1904 – November 1976) was a merchant and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Pelly from 1956 to 1964 and from 1967 to 1971 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Morden, Manitoba and was educated in Manitoba and British Columbia. Barrie was a general merchant in Pelly, Saskatchewan from 1922 to 1948. In 1940, he was an unsuccessful Liberal candidate for the Mackenzie seat in the Canadian House of Commons. From 1950 to 1958, he was a general insurance agent. He was defeated by Leonard Larson when he ran for reelection to the provincial assembly in 1964 and then defeated Larson in the general election of 1967. He served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Natural Resources. Barrie was defeated by Larson when he ran for reelection in 1971. Morden is a city located in the Pembina Valley region of southern Manitoba, Canada near the United States border. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. Pelly (Saskatchewan Electoral District)
Pelly is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in east-central Saskatchewan, it was centered on the village of Pelly. The riding was created before the 2nd Saskatchewan general election in 1908, and dissolved before the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995. This constituency elected the first woman to the Saskatchewan legislature: Sarah Ramsland. It is now part of the district of Canora-Pelly. Arnold Feusi
Arnold Joseph Feusi (March 31, 1912 – January 14, 1998) was an American-born educator, civil servant and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Pelly from 1952 to 1956 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) member. He was born in Superior, Wisconsin and moved with his parents to the Langenburg district of Saskatchewan at a young age. Feusi was educated in Langenburg and at the Saskatoon Normal School. He taught school in Langenburg and later Weyburn. In 1941, he married Sally Dilschneider. During World War II, Feusi served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was later employed with the provincial departments of Natural Resources and Tourism. Feusi also served on the local school board. He was defeated by Jim Barrie when he ran for reelection to the provincial assembly in 1956. Fort Pelly
Fort Pelly was a Hudson's Bay Company fur trading post located in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The fort was named after Sir John Pelly, governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. The current village of Pelly, Saskatchewan, takes its name from the fort, and is located approximately 8 miles north of the site of the fort. The first fort Before Fort Pelly was built there was a Fort Hibernia in the general area. The first Fort Pelly, at , was constructed by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1824, in the northeast corner of the elbow of the Assiniboine River. It was situated at a convenient portage point between the Assiniboine and Swan Rivers. Since the upper Assiniboine is shallow and crooked the area was most easily reached from the Swan River.
