Jhenaidah ( bn, ঝিনাইদহ) is a city in the Khulna Division of south-western Bangladesh. Jhenaidah is the headquarters of Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila and Jhenaidah District. The city has a population of about 252 thousand, making it the 19th largest city in Bangladesh. It is the fourth largest city in the Khulna division, after Khulna, Kushtia, and Jessore. Etymology This area was once very popular for trading oysters. In the past, people of this area used to collect a huge quantity of oysters from the river bed Nabaganga and the adjacent and . Jhenaidah District ( bn, ঝিনাইদহ) is a district in southwestern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Khulna Division. It has an area of . It is bordered by Kushtia District to the north, Jessore District and West Bengal, India to the south, Rajbari District and Magura District to the east, and Chuadanga District and West Bengal, India to the west. Jhenidah Sadar ( bn, ঝিনাইদহ সদর) is an upazila of Jhenaidah District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh. Geography Jhenidah Sadar is located at . It has a total area 467.75 km2. Demographics According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila had 108,924 households and a population of 455,932, 23.8% of whom lived in urban areas. 8.8% of the population was under the age of 5. Jhenaidah Government High School
Jhenaidah Government High School is one of the oldest schools in the district Jhenaidah, Bangladesh. Jhenaidah Govt. High School was founded in 1877. It is the oldest and one of the most famous educational institutions in Jhenaidah. The first school functioned as a high school English on the campus of Government Girls High School. Soon, the school has been recognized as an English High School and was registered under the University of Calcutta, after which he became known as Jhenaidah Model High School. The N7 is a Bangladeshi national highway connecting the Daulatdia Ferry Terminal, on the south bank of the Padma River near the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, with the Port of Mongla in Bagerhat District. It serves some of the largest cities and towns in southwestern Bangladesh, including Faridpur, Magura, Jhenaidah, Jessore, and Khulna.
