Jesús De La Serna
Jesús de la Serna (Santander, 18 June 1926 – Madrid, 5 September 2013) was a Spanish journalist. Biography De la Serna was born in the Spanish city of Santander in 1926. His father, Víctor de la Serna, was also a journalist, whilst his grandmother, Concha Espina, was a novelist. He followed in his father footsteps and began to work as a journalist in the 50s. He was the chief editor of both ''Teresa'' magazine and ''Pueblo'' journal. He was later appointed editor of ''Informaciones''. In 1979, he joined PRISA so as to work as an advisor. Two years later, in 1981, he was appointed deputy director for ''El País''. Besides, he was in charge of several sections of this newspaper until 1989. Santander, Spain
Santander () is the capital of the autonomous community and historical region of Cantabria situated on the north coast of Spain. It is a port city located east of Gijón and west of Bilbao with a population of 172,000 (2017). It is believed to have been a port since ancient times, due to its favorable location, and is documented as far back as the 11th century. Much of the medieval city was lost in the Great Fire of 1941. Today, its remaining old town, beach and other attractions are popular with tourists and other visitors and its economy is mainly service based. The port is still very active and a regular ferry service operates to the United Kingdom. Fish and seafood dominate the local cuisine. Concha Espina
María de la Concepción Jesusa Basilisa Rodríguez-Espina y García-Tagle, short form Concha Espina (15 April 1869 or 1877 or 1 April 1879 or 15 April 1879 in Santander – 19 May 1955 in Madrid), was a Spanish writer. She was nominated for a Nobel prize in literature twenty five times in twenty eight years. Life María de la Concepción Jesusa Basilisa Rodríguez-Espina y García-Tagle was born in Santander, the seventh of 10 children of Víctor Rodríguez-Espina y Olivares and Ascensión García-Tagle y de la Vega. On 12 January 1893 she married Ramón de la Serna y Cueto, and they moved to Valparaíso, Chile during some years. The marriage had 5 children: Ramón, Víctor, José, Josefina (wife of Regino Sainz de la Maza) and Luis. The couple separated in 1909, and legally in 1934. In 1940 she went blind, but she continued to write. She died at 86, on 19 May 1955 in Madrid. Her best known novel is called That Luzmela Girl (''La niña de Luzmela'') and describes life ...
