Jungle Love (The Time Song)
"Jungle Love" is a song from The Time's third album, ''Ice Cream Castle''. Background "Jungle Love" is a funk- pop track relying mainly on bass, analog synthesizer and drum machines, although there are elements of new wave keyboards and a rock guitar solo, allowing the song to cross musical boundaries. The track was one of the first songs recorded for the album, being cut in late March 1983 during Prince's ''1999'' tour. The track was also one of the first Time tracks to involve other members of the band in the creation of the song. Morris Day and Jesse Johnson both contributed to writing the song. Day provided sexual lead vocals and animalistic sound effects, and Johnson played guitar on the recording, while Prince played all the other instruments. Impact The song's elements, combined with the '' Purple Rain'' momentum, propelled the song to The Time's second-highest position thus far on the pop charts peaking at #20 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Their highest-charting son ...

"The Bird" is a song from The Time's third album, ''Ice Cream Castle''. The song was initially recorded in the studio in 1983 with all instruments by Prince, except guitar, which was performed by Jesse Johnson. This version was replaced by a live recording with the full band at the First Avenue on October 4, 1983. This is the first Time song to be released both live and featuring The Time as a band, rather than primarily Prince with Morris Day on vocals. The song has become a signature number for the band and continues to be played in every Time concert to this day. In addition, two additional live versions have since been released: one on Prince's ''Rave Un2 the Year 2000'' DVD and one recorded at the House of Blues in 1998 for Morris Day's 2004 album '' It's About Time''. Background The title of the upbeat number refers to a dance in which the arms are flapped, mimicking a bird's wings. Morris Day also squawks throughout the song. The song suggests that by "doing the bi ...

The album's two biggest hits, " Jungle Love" and " The Bird", were featured in the film '' Purple Rain'' and this, along with Day's performance in the movie, catapulted the album up the charts and to a crossover audience. The band didn't have time to enjoy the success, as they had disbanded by the time the movie was released. ''Ice Cream Castle'' produced three singles: "Ice Cream Castles", "Jungle Love", and "The Bird". Recording Sessions for the album began in late March 1983, at Sunset Sound, in Hollywood (while Prince and The Time were still on the 1999 Tour), beginning with "Jungle Love". Led by singer Vanity (singer), Vanity, they are known for their song "Nasty Girl (Vanity 6 song), Nasty Girl." Prince's vision was that the three women would perform in lingerie and sing sensual songs with lyrics about sex, romance, and fantasy. Later, musician Rick James claimed that Prince had stolen the idea for creating a sexy trio in negligees who sang about love, pain, money, and power from him while Prince was the opening act on James's tour in 1980. AllMusic
AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. After buying it he discovered it was a "flaccid latter-day rehash". Frustrated with the labeling, he researched using metadata to create a music guide. In 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he founded ''All Music Guide' ...
