Jerry Reynolds (basketball, Born 1962)
Jerry "Ice" Reynolds (born December 23, 1962) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1985 NBA Draft. A 6'8" guard-forward from Louisiana State University (LSU) and Madison Area Technical College, Reynolds played in eight NBA seasons from 1985–92 until 1995–96 NBA season, 1995–96. He played for the Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic. His best year as a pro came during the 1989–90 NBA season, 1989–90 season as a member of the Magic, appearing in 67 games and averaging 12.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.39 steals per game. Reynolds is credited with being the first person noted to have used the term "24/7", when he described his jump shot (basketball), jump shot as being "good 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year". Point (basketball)
Points in basketball are used to keep track of the score in a game. Points can be accumulated by making field goals (two or three points) or free throws (one point). If a player makes a field goal from within the three-point line, the player scores two points. If the player makes a field goal from beyond the three-point line, the player scores three points. The team that has recorded the most points at the end of a game is declared that game's winner. The 1985–86 NBA season was the 40th season of the National Basketball Association. The season ended with the Boston Celtics winning their third championship of the decade, beating the Houston Rockets 4 games to 2 in the NBA Finals. Jump Shot (basketball)
In basketball (and derivatives like netball), a player may attempt to score a basket by leaping straight into the air, the elbow of the shooting hand cocked, ball in hand above the head, and lancing the ball in a high arc towards the basket for a jump shot (colloquially, a jumper). Although early critics thought the leap might lead to indecision in the air, the jump shot replaced the earlier, less quickly released '' set shot'', and eventually transformed the game because it is the easiest shot to make from a distance and more difficult for a defender to block. In commerce and industry, 24/7 or 24-7 service (usually pronounced "twenty-four seven") is service that is available at any time and usually, every day. An alternate orthography for the numerical part includes 24×7 (usually pronounced "twenty-four by seven"). The numerals stand for "24 hours a day, 7 days a week". Less commonly used, 24/7/52 (adding "52 weeks") and 24/7/365 service (adding "365 days") make it clear that service is available every day of the year. 1985 NBA Draft
The 1985 NBA Draft took place on June 18, 1985. It was also the first NBA draft of the "lottery" era. It was also around this time where the league decreased the amount of rounds the draft spent, with the previous few years lasting up to 10 rounds total. A total of 162 players were selected over seven rounds by the league's 23 teams. The New York Knicks were awarded the first overall pick by winning the first-ever NBA draft lottery, which was held in May of that year. The Knicks used it on Georgetown's Patrick Ewing.
