Jeremy Sochan
Jeremy Juliusz Sochan (; born May 20, 2003) is a Polish-American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is also a member of Poland men's national basketball team. He played college basketball for the Baylor Bears men's basketball, Baylor Bears. He played in England for a number of years as a youth. Early life and career Sochan was born in the United States, in Guymon, Oklahoma. His mother Aneta was a Polish basketball player for Polonia Warsaw who played NCAA Division II, Division II college basketball at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Panhandle State. While there, she met Sochan's father, Ryan Williams who played for the men's basketball team. Sochan comes from a family with rich sporting traditions. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. Poland Men's National Basketball Team
The Poland men's national basketball team ( pl, Reprezentacja Polski w koszykówce) represents Poland in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Polish Basketball Federation (PZKosz). Poland has competed at the EuroBasket on 28 occasions, with their best performance at the tournament coming in 1963, as hosts, finishing as runners-up. Stutthof Concentration Camp
Stutthof was a Nazi concentration camp established by Nazi Germany in a secluded, marshy, and wooded area near the village of Stutthof (now Sztutowo) 34 km (21 mi) east of the city of Danzig (Gdańsk) in the territory of the German-annexed Free City of Danzig. The camp was set up around existing structures after the invasion of Poland in World War II and initially used for the imprisonment of Polish leaders and intelligentsia. The actual barracks were built the following year by prisoners. Most of the infrastructure of the concentration camp was either destroyed or dismantled shortly after the war. The occupation of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union during World War II (1939–1945) began with the German-Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939, and it was formally concluded with the defeat of Germany by the Allies in May 1945. Throughout the entire course of the occupation, the territory of Poland was divided between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union (USSR) both of which intended to eradicate Poland's culture and subjugate its people. Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. KS Warszawianka
Klub Sportowy Warszawianka is a Polish multi-sport club from Warsaw. It has several sections, including handball, track and field, fencing and tennis, and in the past it had several more, including a football team which competed in the Polish top division. Their colors are black-white, and the logo consists of a black capital letter W. History It was founded in 1921 by the famous Warsaw families of Luxemburgs and Loths (the Loths were also co-creators of Polonia Warsaw). At first, the club's main efforts concentrated on football. Zygmunt Sochan (24 December 1909 – 5 February 1998) was a Polish footballer who played as a midfielder, manager, and member of the Polish resistance movement in World War II. Early life Sochan was born and grew up in Tomaszów Lubelski. In his youth he played football in the school club Burza Tomaszów Lubelski, which was soon renamed to Znicz Tomaszów Lubelski and then absorbed by the town's leading football club Tomasovia Tomaszów Lubelski. He also participated in regional athletic competitions. Club career In 1929, he moved to the top division team Warszawianka, based in Warsaw. At first he mostly played in its reserve team.
