Jereem Richards
Jereem Richards (born 13 January 1994) is a Trinidadian track and field sprinter who specializes in the 200 metres and 400 metres events. Richards is from Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago, and attended the University of Alabama. He was part of the Trinidad and Tobago team that won the bronze medal in the 4×400 m relay at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, and the gold medal in the 4 x 400m relay at the 2017 IAAF World Championships. Career Richards' first major competition was the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships. There, he ran the third leg of Trinidad and Tobago's 4x400m relay squad, which won the bronze medal. 2017 became a breakout season for Richards; he opened his season with a wind-assisted 19.98, and 16 days later he ran his first legal sub-20 with 19.97 seconds, lowering his personal best by over half a second. Summary The stagger largely held true into the final turn, with Colombia's Jhon Perlaza emerging ahead and powering down the home stretch to hand off a step ahead of Dwight St. Hillare for Trinidad and Tobago. Diego Palomeque led Colombia through the break but cut to the rail quickly, opening up space for Trinidad's World Championship relay gold medalist, Jereem Richards to zoom by. Athletics competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between July 27 and August 11, 2019 at the Athletics Stadium in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster, with the marathon and walks being held at Kennedy Park. A total of 48 events were contested, equally divided among men and women. The women's 50 km walk was added for this edition, marking the first time men and women competed in an equal number of events. Qualification Up to a total of 740 athletes were qualified to compete. Each nation may enter a maximum of two athletes in each individual event, and one team per relay event. Each event has a maximum number of competitors and a minimum performance standard. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017.
